🎬 The Revenant
Saw this for its 10th anniversary at the Metropol. What a treat! Thoroughly enjoyed this one, letting me absorb into its story, atmosphere and grandiose landscapes. It’s like you’re right there with the protagonists (as far as you can from the comfort of one’s cinema seat). There are so many intense scenes and they’re so masterfully captured and choreographed. Leo and Tommy Hardy are so good (but I was very thankful for subtitles, because I would’ve otherwise been lost with the latter’s accent and mumbling). A must-see!

🎬 Frankie Freako
After the very positive surprise of Psycho Goreman, this is the second movie from the same director. Unfortunately, this is not even close to the quality of PG. The humour is lame and just silly (well, yes, some things were indeed pretty funny, but that was an exception), the characters are not as likeable and the puppets are not that great either. I’d rather watch PG again!

On Saturday, I’ll be live on stage with Brutal Unrest again.
The new YouTube video player allows playing videos in full screen mode when launched from a PWA on iPad. No more opening an extra FeedCity tab in the browser just to watch the videos I bookmarked to watch during lunch break.

🎬 PG: Psycho Goreman
Honestly, this was very entertaining. I was pretty tired, but this kept me awake, no problem. It's just so bizarre and funny. The daughter and her father are absolute comedy gold. And that policeman! The costumes are so good, too. I don't know, I had a great time and would most definitely watch it again.

🎬 Edge of Honor
Plot is all over the place and there's quite a few scenes that make little sense. But yeah, for a trash-movie night, certainly not the worst flick. "Wait, how did they lift those enormous logs and … ?" "WHO CARES, ACTION, AHHHH…!". The finale is like Home Alone but in the woods and pretty entertaining.

Another HWC Düsseldorf has taken place this week, where we shared what we’ve been up to with our personal sites. Nina continued to write more and more for her homepage as well as work on the code. She started adding music to her blog posts. Jochen continues to make selfhosted tools and recently added a (private) “Archive” site where he adds podcasts episodes to, and transcribes the audio into text. I recently added the latest Polaroid to my homepage.

🎬 In the Mouth of Madness
Hm. Somehow, the plot was a bit unsatisfactory. But there's still lots to like: the theme song is one of my favourites by Carpenter, the gory practical effects are great, I liked the characters, the humour, the atmosphere. Good one, but (after first watch) not my most-liked Carpenter film.
