Alejandro Cegarra, winner of the 2025 Leica Oskar Barnack Award, tells a story of borders, humanity, and hope. With his black-and-white series The Two Walls, Cegarra captures the lives of migrants along the US–Mexico border — a powerful reflection on human dignity in the face of division. Born in Venezuela and now based in Mexico, Cegarra brings empathy and depth to documentary photography, continuing a remarkable journey that began with his 2014 LOBA Newcomer win. Oktoberfest with Teo Crawford
Known locally as the “Wiesn”, Munich’s Oktoberfest is the world’s largest traditional fair, a celebration that has been shaping Bavarian culture since 1810. This year, over 6.5 million visitors gathered on the Theresienwiese, sharing 6.5 million liters of beer, moments of joy, and quiet pauses amid the crowds. Photographer Teo Crawford attended with the LeicaQ3, capturing the contrasts that define the Wiesn: tradition and modernity, chaos and calm, revelry and reflection. Between the laughter and music, there were moments when the festival grounds were closed due to overcrowding and bomb threats that led to brief silences in the heart of celebration.
