Shifter: Get a Hobby
Key element: Sometimes we need to step away from something to get closer to it in the end, but what we step away to is important. Stepping away to doom-scroll or watch pointless YouTube films isn't helpful. Stepping away to something productive is essential not just for your photography but also for yourself as a human being. A hobby is a regular activity pursued for pleasure and relaxation during leisure time, rather than for financial gain. For the love of all things crap, get a hobby. That's my advice. But why, Dan? Oh, I'm here to tell you, give you examples, and show you some of mine. Remember, my hobbies don't need to be your hobbies. But hobbies are critical for finding stories and becoming a more well-rounded person. Be more.

Shifter: Hong Kong Update
After three days in Hong Kong, I finally feel like I've seen part of the city. My history here is brief, odd, confusing, but laced with magical moments. Our workshop is complete, and we have already begun to plan 2027. This place is astounding, and not just photographically. How it all works is a mystery to me, but you can't deny what you see and encounter here. Hong Kong is far from perfect. I have a basic understanding of some of the foundational "things," but this place is alive in a way you don't often find. As a C-student of history and humanity, it's a riveting place.

We learned a lot. People are nice, Japan endures, and opening a piece of book software can be downright intimidating. The workshop is complete, and now it's time to move to the next country, but before I go, I wanted to share with you a few things about this incredible country. Observations mostly, the Moriyama show, the performance of our students/athletes, and one small explanation of my eating habits, which have fallen and can't get up. I would write more, but I have to go now. I'm hungry again.
