Our team at @tollwerk designs for screen and print, and I couldn't find a tool that checks whole palettes for accessible #contrast in both. So I built one: https://pairette.tollwerk.de

It checks palettes against #WCAG 2, #APCA and DIN 32975, handles translucent colours, builds tone scales evenly spaced in contrast, keeps palettes in a URL and speaks Design Tokens.

It's still very young. I'd love for you to play with it and tell me what you think! 🙏

Had a lot of fun yesterday at #loscon26, wearing the #CoderDojo hat. I had the chance to present @coderdojonbg and support the participants in taking their first steps into hardware programming — which was also slightly outside my comfort zone. The community was really cool and pleasant — thanks @simondueckert for the opportunity. Wishing all participants much more fun for the second day today!

Ziel ist, meiner Verantwortung besser gerecht zu werden, den Webcast bewusster zu gestalten, Perspektivenvielfalt zu stärken und den Austausch in der Community besser zu fördern. Dass ich so lange gebraucht habe, um mich zu sortieren und zu äußern, war kein Kalkül. Es war Überforderung, verbunden mit Verpflichtungen, die sich nicht verschieben ließen. Aber: Die Zeit hat den Schaden vergrößert. Ich hätte früher Verantwortung übernehmen müssen.

Ich habe mich mehr mit Ausdrucksformen beschäftigt als mit Inhalten. Ich habe über Ausschluss nachgedacht, anstatt den Weg der Auseinandersetzung zu suchen.
Auch mein Rückzug — den ich für mich als Selbstschutz empfunden habe — hatte eine Wirkung: Er wirkte wie Ignorieren und Abwertung. Das war nicht meine Absicht, aber es war die Wirkung. Und dafür bitte ich um Entschuldigung. (3/5)

Im Gespräch nach technica11y am Montag habe ich über @kc gesprochen — in einem Ton und in einer Haltung, die verletzend waren. Ich habe ihre Kritik übergangen, sie als Problem geframed und dabei meine Rolle als Host nicht reflektiert. Das war falsch. Ich habe damit Muster reproduziert, die viele marginalisierte Menschen aus anderen Kontexten nur zu gut kennen — und wurde damit Teil eines Problems, das ich eigentlich vermeiden wollte. (2/5)

Dear #a11y friends w/ screen readers: I just ran into the following question and haven't been able to do any testing myself yet, so your experience would help me a lot to start from: How accessible are the PDF viewers built into browsers? Do any of the browsers take into account the accessibility features in the PDF, or does the PDF itself hardly matter and the browsers ruin most of it anyway? Or is my intuition fooling me and the viewers are actually quite good? Thanks for your observations!
