I had so much fun in August on HTML Day. (htmlday.joespartydepot.com) I think it’s time to do something similar but maybe not the same, again. December will be the 4th San Diego IndieWebCamp. (indieweb.org/San_Diego) It’s fun to get get together and write HTML. Websites are so great. Where should we hold it? When should we...

Politico quoting Trump’s remarks at the UN:

From this point forward, all United States documents and hopefully the world’s will be changed to use the much more accurate term, super, as opposed to artificial. So it’s super intelligence.

No. As usual this is just a distraction. 🇺🇸

When I walk around the world I like to take notes of what I see, hear and feel: of the rhythms and routines, of the moments of kindness, of the times when I examine and re-examine what the places where I spend the most time mean to me. I often develop my notes into publishe...

Lots of AI news today. Opus 5.5, and GPT-6 Sol and Luna. Luna is very affordable. 1/100th the price of Astra. The only cheaper model from OpenAI is the old GPT-5 Nano, which I’m still using for some server work because of the price.

Love that Olbermann is back.

The number one waste of time is they changed the Dock images for all their apps. That's the kind of thing you shouldn't change, like the color and shape of a Stop sign. Or QWERTY on a typewriter. I guess to regular Mac people I'm like Rip Van Winkel.

Yesterday I posted a list of builtin verbs in Frontier, as implemented in our current Atlantis app. Today I asked Claude to update the list, I wanted to see which verbs were implemented and not implemented.

I'm using Frontier on a Mac running MacOS v26.6.2, which is the current version of the OS. Frontier running on a new Mac. And that's my computer. It's like the moment I realized, in 2010, that I had succeeded in relocating to NYC. It had been a life ambition to live in Ma...

Back from Spain with a good haul…

In the same week, the President banned three networks from the White House - and started his own. It's not a coincidence that this happened so close to the midterms.

OutPost is a new Micropub client for Mac, with full compatibility with Micro.blog-hosted blogs. It’s a public beta now. Initial testing looks good! In fact I’m typing this microblog post using it.

Following up on my home server minor dilemma… The problem is best illustrated with this summary:

• Mac mini with 4 TB: $3499
• Beelink mini PC + 4 TB internal M.2: $865

That is quite the price difference. I feel like the M5 Pro is wasted here.

Thinking more about what I need for home NAS or OpenClaw server. I have an old Drobo that has important files I need to transfer before it stops working. Could get a Synology, Mac mini that solves multiple problems, or… nothing. I don’t love maintaining extra hardware.

Flipping through news channels over breakfast like I usually do, the Today Show actually had a pretty good segment on AI technology to help with air traffic control. Good balance of facts and humor. I think that’s largely going to be the mainstream response: “Interesting. And yet life goes on.”

I don’t know exactly how the trees are changing, the details being so minute and complex at once, but I know that they are. I can see the change in the colours. ⁂ ⁂ ⁂ Carrying the weight of summer, the trees shed with colour and become anew, carrying messages of the presen...

What if I don’t have to go anywhere to feel the world? What if the place of my dreams is already in front of me? Herein, a dispatch from Scotland in September. ⁂ ⁂ ⁂ As I look into the distance, I see a tree with a green core at the ends of whose branches the leaves are s...

Sometimes you wipe away words and their imprint – the place where you left them – remains inked in your mind. The feeling of writing. ⁂ ⁂ ⁂ After I wrote “The sound of writing”, I started to think about how writing feels. What does it feel like to write a piece of work? I...

I love how a conversation can flow from dishes to Ted Lasso 1 to stickers. This makes me think that even if I am not wandering outside – exploring the world – my mind can wander inside, or with others as part of a conversation. I digress. Of all these discussion points -- di...
