On Monday I offered free advice for Toni Schneider, the new CEO at Bluesky. I'm sure everyone is telling him what to do, and as a blogger it's my responsibility to relay my own two cents. I want us all to come together no matter what protocol you're using. We've been waiting for a web to form in the social space. We could do it now, but Bluesky has to consolidate. Note that I said we, not they.

It's been 2.5 months since RSS.chat was introduced. I've been so immersed in Frontier that, as I look back, all this feels fresh to me. I want all text boxes to be equal and to be chained together in as many ways as we can think of, users and developers. Relational writing. I...

It's great to own your own home. The house I'm living in now is the third I've owned. Now I wish for the carefree existence of being a renter because we turned the heat on last night, too cold -- only to find out some animal must've crawled into the pipes and died there. Lovely. Oh to have my old apartment in Manhattan. Sometimes I dream about that.

Another trailer for Nathan Fielder’s You Can See Everything. Amazing. I don’t know what kind of story this is going to tell, but it’s obviously going to be a totally different kind of documentary.

First trailer for Ray Gunn is out. Brad Bird had been wanting to make this film for decades. Can’t believe it’s actually happening.

Still settling in to what AI models I should be using. Last month, I was happy with GPT-5.6 Sol (xhigh) and fast mode all the time. Astra blew that up because it’s just more expensive. I think GPT-6 Sol (high) is the right balance for my usage.

Politico quoting Trump’s remarks at the UN:

From this point forward, all United States documents and hopefully the world’s will be changed to use the much more accurate term, super, as opposed to artificial. So it’s super intelligence.

No. As usual this is just a distraction. 🇺🇸

Became (or, connecting notes to finished works)

When I walk around the world I like to take notes of what I see, hear and feel: of the rhythms and routines, of the moments of kindness, of the times when I examine and re-examine what the places where I spend the most time mean to me. I often develop my notes into publishe...

Lots of AI news today. Opus 5.5, and GPT-6 Sol and Luna. Luna is very affordable. 1/100th the price of Astra. The only cheaper model from OpenAI is the old GPT-5 Nano, which I’m still using for some server work because of the price.

The number one waste of time is they changed the Dock images for all their apps. That's the kind of thing you shouldn't change, like the color and shape of a Stop sign. Or QWERTY on a typewriter. I guess to regular Mac people I'm like Rip Van Winkel.

Yesterday I posted a list of builtin verbs in Frontier, as implemented in our current Atlantis app. Today I asked Claude to update the list, I wanted to see which verbs were implemented and not implemented.

A functional Frontier

I'm using Frontier on a Mac running MacOS v26.6.2, which is the current version of the OS. Frontier running on a new Mac. And that's my computer. It's like the moment I realized, in 2010, that I had succeeded in relocating to NYC. It had been a life ambition to live in Ma...

Trump TV is the only source of footage of the President. That may be exactly what he wants.

In the same week, the President banned three networks from the White House - and started his own. It's not a coincidence that this happened so close to the midterms.

Following up on my home server minor dilemma… The problem is best illustrated with this summary:

  • Mac mini with 4 TB: $3499
  • Beelink mini PC + 4 TB internal M.2: $865

That is quite the price difference. I feel like the M5 Pro is wasted here.
