Bluesky comes up in the latest ActivityPub newsletter update from Ghost:

Another cool thing that happened last week was that we enabled a bridge to BlueSky — an alternative decentralized social network which doesn’t use ActivityPub, but instead uses its own alternative protocol.

I was confused on my first reading of this. They’ve enabled Brid.gy, not built anything specific for Ghost. Also, I’m sorry this is so nitpicky, but no one in the fediverse seems to be able to spell Bluesky correctly.

On the latest episode of Core Int, we talk about updates we might see to MacBooks, the recent funding and growth of Bluesky, and what it means to be rich.

Listened to Charlemagne tha God for the first time on the New Yorker podcast. I have to say I agree with everything he said. Really glad that people with clear mind and purpose been able to use our medium to do the good we hoped for. Best part was where he quoted Obama agree...

Bugs, breakthroughs and BlueSky

[Ghost]

"Last week we officially started the ActivityPub private beta and sent invitations to our first 3 publishers to start testing things out. This was the first big milestone we've been working toward for months, and it felt great to get there! 🚀"

The Ghost team continues to build their ActivityPub integration in the open. It's really fun to see.

This update goes into the kinds of bugs you discover when you start showing your work to early adopters, and I love the joyul attitude here. I also particularly love the animated preview of the ActivityPub-aware profile viewer.

It's all coming together nicely - and it looks like it'll be one of the slickest Fediverse apps out there. I can't wait.

At first I wasn’t going to cancel my Washington Post subscription… but I did. There’s not really a better way to send a message to Jeff Bezos that this was a bad call so close to the election. It’s not like a small company where you can send an email and have your voice heard. 🇺🇸

I voted today. Triple-checked my ballot. Still nervous but feels good to have the end of the election in sight. This is one for the history books. 🇺🇸

A sign with the word VOTE and stars around it is placed on a grassy area by the sidewalk.

You can't hurt Bezos

It probably does no good to cancel your Washington Post subscription. It's hard to imagine Bezos would lose any money from a complete writedown. Any loss would offset gains he would receive from selling a tiny bit of Amazon stock, it would wash out on his balance sheet.

You can't hurt him with money. In fact I'm pretty sure we can't hurt him in any way. So why not keep the reporters employed, for once the seem to be doing the right thing and keeping us in the loop on why they're doing the awful thing they're doing. Usually we're kept in the dark.

From an article and discussion with the Humane founders, Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno, from Om Malik’s new site Crazy Stupid Tech:

“We had to stand up and accept the critique and feedback in front of our team, in front of the public, and just continue to push forward every single day,” Bongiorno said. “And it was really hard. Hard and painful. You’re right, it is really hard to get a second chance.”

I still think the Ai Pin was too ambitious for 1.0. I’d like to see a slimmed down version, no laser, just solve a couple small problems with voice.

So when the Dodger hit the walk-off grand slam last night, half of me was ecstatic because the Yankees were beaten, but oops, but I hate it even more that the freaking Dodgers won. This World Series is unique in that I desperately want both teams to lose. What do you do with that??

BTW if you're thinking why don't we just go for the Nets. As I've said here many times, there aren't actually any Nets fans to speak of in NY. That was the huge self-parody Kevin Durant did when he claimed there was some kind of rivalry between the Nets and the Knicks. Really unfortunate unforced error he could have just asked a few people where are all the Nets fans.

Lots of Yankees fans at the Garden yesterday to see the great Knicks team of last year show up for the first time. The game in Boston on Tuesday was disheartening. It's a new team with the core of last year's team. And when the fans started roaring when there was nothing hap...

There's an election coming up and I can't believe we're still debating it.

Heads up: this one’s for American citizens. The rest of you can pass this one over, or peek at it for a shot of either schadenfreude or fear, depending on your predilictions and assumptions. It’s your call. The election, at the time of writing, is in ten days. It’s on Tuesd...

The Washington Post says it will not endorse a candidate for president
