Also, The Iconfactory has added a bunch of these images to their wonderful Wallaroo app (which is how I’ve switched to one on my own iPhone).

Update 2: Nils Streedain has made wallpapers for the Mac optimized for OLED displays (HEIC native format, pure #000 black background, etc.). Gorgeous.

Not sure why they think this comparison is reassuring rather than terrifying.

I also have to say that Altman’s claims, today, that OpenAI employees were obsessed with COVID weeks ahead of the rest of the world feels more than a little like Donald Trump’s repeated false claim that he predicted, pre-9/11, that Osama bin Laden would attack the U.S.

I don’t see the path from here to there, where *there* is a justification for a trillion-dollar-ish valuation.

Hacker News isn't a software masterpiece. All the pieces have to be there to make something as real as HN happen. It was being a great day of photography in the Northern Plains... until everything went wrong. Car broke down, one of my cameras stopped working... but I tried to make the most of it anyway.

I've been reading too much on Instapaper. Saving articles for later is a powerful way to manage my time, but it produces a huge pile of content that I then feel obligated to work my way through. 

Instapaper has the opposite effect on me. I save many articles there, and when I visit the site the first thing I do is delete the articles I am no longer interested in reading. Usually that’s more than half of the articles I’ve saved. (“Why did I think I wanted to read that?”) Very liberating. The key is not to visit Instapaper too often — twice a week is about right.
