Going to be talking about curiosity and it's role in design later today at evolvedrupal.com - made a few adjustments since @beyondtellerrand.com and excited to see how folks react https://www.evolvedrupal.com

It’s up! Video of my talk about curiosity and its role in design that I shared for the first time at #btconf [contains quote post or other embedded content]

Guy sitting across from me on the commuter train home has an open beer in paper bag and is watching a show on his phone with the volume up, no headphones. Just doin’ his thing on a rush hour train.

“Curiosity thrives in the space between expected and unexpected, between map and territory” - @joanwestenberg.com - love this (and will def be incorporating this in my talk on curiosity and its role in design the next time I give it!) see also: need to talk to @ethanmarcotte.com about curiosity too

You know what coffee shop? I don’t want to be nagged about whether or not I liked my experience of buying a coffee via email literally every time I buy a coffee. Or maybe just ‘never’. Your barista will know because I tip them for their lovely attention to their craft.

Some beautiful photos by @florianziegler.com from @beyondtellerrand.com last week. Thanks Florian! This was a new and very different kind of talk for me, and he captured it beautifully

Not only just brilliant getting to see @r8r.at again, but also honored by your write up of the event and my new talk. You picked up on so many of the themes I wanted to get across. Cheers mate! [contains quote post or other embedded content]

What an epic week! @beyondtellerrand.com was incredible (as expected), but add to that so many new friends and capped off with an all-day adventure to Acern and beyond with these two excellent gents. Ended the day with 163km/500m/6:55 and almost half of it unpaved! #cycling [contains quote post or other embedded content]

General comment on Aer Lingus app: having departure and arrival times and not indicating time zone changes doesn’t help me understand my flight duration. Or maybe you could just put the flight duration there too. Just an idea. FFS.

Pretty excited. Heading to Düsseldorf in a few days for a truly amazing conference that is @beyondtellerrand.com and some cycling adventures with the guy who brings it to life @marcthiele.com 😁🚴🏼🚴🏽‍♀️🚴🏼‍♂️ so good talking to you this morning mate!

Got to start the day with a conversation about curiosity with @espiekermann.bsky.social . Monday off to a good start :) For all my friends attending @btconf.bsky.social next week, I’ll share a bit about it. On the fence? Still a ticket or two left! Come hang out in Düsseldorf

Snuck out super early again this morning and got almost 80km before work. Me: Yay! Got in almost 80km before work. Also me: going to nap under my desk b/c I rode almost 80km before work 😴😴😴 #cycling

A good reminder about the trap of design being data-dictated vs data-informed “Design is not a science of perfect optimization, but an art of purposeful choice.” https://medium.com/@ken_sigel/let-designers-design-the-creative-trap-of-endless-a-b-testing-2317c490cdf8

This is what happens when Goldberg leaves me to my own devices earlier in the morning: double-loop hundo, imperial edition. Avec snacks (courtesy of Goldberg) and a lovely cortado @borealiscoffee (first full hundo of the year) #cycling #roadcycling 165km/1089m/6:22

A long day out, much needed. Glad @byronwors entertains this nonsense: 91mi for #FondoOfTheMonthClub N°87 in a row. And it felt warm—until it didn’t. 146km/1598m/6:06 #cycling #roadcycling #strava #stravacycling #stravafondo

“The only disability is a negative attitude” - what an amazing outlook and story from 31-time Paralympic Olympian medalist Jessica Long. So honored to hear her talk to our team at Chewy

the real reason for the internet is just be to ensure our clocks are set correctly twice a year. Seems like a lot of overhead and drama comes along for the ride for that task.

I’m really chuffed to be heading back to bt and to be sharing something brand new about the role of curiosity in design [contains quote post or other embedded content]

Monday morning and peak nerd already found: OH at the train station: “You ever watch night court?” “It was on right before Dr Who. That was the only reason I ever saw it” “Did you ever read the books? They were so good” (Dr Who fan is wearing sunglasses and NASA fleece pants)

At what point did notifications on other platforms cease to have any bearing on someone actually having interacted with you? Little red dots everywhere letting me know that someone I might know reacted to someone else I don’t knows post is worse than useless 😡

Annual review ‘self-eval’ reflection and writing. A second year of ‘wow, that was a lot to go through and still deliver on a truckload of good stuff’ Would be ok with just a little less of the former this go round.
