A blog where Florian tries to post one photo per day.

Doors. One more image from yesterday. It didn't really fit with the other images, but I still like it, so here it is.

Gruga visit with the kids. We walked a lot. To Suvi's dismay, all the chip shops in the park were closed. I guess we need to find french fries somewhere else later. Looking at my photographs, I was apparently fascinated by the contrails in the sky today.
Update: Kevin also looked up today.

My brain is empty. Lots of work today. I don't want to spend another second in front of the computer. So here, just the image, no context. 🥱

Nice evening walk. Found this rabbit drawing on a bridge's glass railing. I waited for a few cars to pass underneath so it was backlit.

Another henna session. Tried some new lines and patterns. Still a bit awkward to "draw" with those squishy cones, but I guess it's just practice.

Observing light and shadow.

Another two images from yesterday's Gruga visit. The light was particularly nice around the owl enclosure and this guy was positioned perfectly – although he seemed a little sleepy. Good thing I brought the long lens.

Winter photo excursion to Gruga with my daughter. Temperatures were crisp, but we brought hot tea. The pond was frozen solid in most places and the parrots looked very cold.

Late afternoon walk. Just a couple of things I found visually interesting along the way.

The remaining snow looked really sad earlier today. Regular ol' Essen winter weather is back, it seems.

Feeling a bit under the weather today, so I'll go ahead and get this daily posting thing out of the way, by sharing a couple images from yesterday, these ones from our snow-covered backyard.
Speaking of new blogs. This one is not new, but newly designed. Yiğit has been posting daily for the last week. Let's show him some love, so he's motivated to keep it going!

Even more snow today. I took lots of images on my way back from the office.
My friend Daniel created a new photography related site: He's posting one polaroid a day. Beautifully done!

Headlights.
Not much to report. Back at work since yesterday after the between-years break. The snow is holding out. Lumi has another day off tomorrow, then everything will be back on the regular schedule – which does not really exist.

The sun rises in the east.

We went ice skating today. (Wanted to for the past two days, but with the fresh snow coming in, we decided otherwise.) It was incredibly packed. Not sure if they have an actual limit for the number of people they allow on the ice, but I am sure it must have been close. The rental skates were atrocious and our feet hurt after two hours, but the kids had fun anyway – which is what matters! (Funny, while writing this I had déjà vu, which turned out not to be imagined. 😂)

More snow today – and this time we could actually build stuff with it. Some random backyard impressions above.
I sometimes wish my knowledge of what's happening in the world was limited to what my kids know. (At least for a day or a couple of hours.) Today, their only mission was to get outside and start playing in the snow. I am so envious.

We had some snow today – which turned to slush in the blink of an eye.
It is exciting to see so many people starting their daily photo projects. (If you are committed, let me know, I'll update the 356 project list soon.) Also, for anyone interested in (more) stats, I published my 2025 (photographic) retrospective.

First attempts with henna. It's quite tricky to draw fine lines with the tubes.

Cold afternoon walk.

Crafting keyring pendants. So far she's made a carrot, a piece of melon, an ice cream cone, and a cat.

Last A41 for the year (I guess). Went to the office today to do some planing for the next year. Lots of changes are coming, starting with moving to a new flat in March.

After overindulging on food during Christmas, my daughter and I took a long walk around Essen today. The images are a bit all over the place but probably a nice representation of what caught my eye.

Walked around Leimen a bit the other day. It is quite remarkable to see how it has changed over the years. When I was a kid I went to the primary school seen on the right. The empty space in the middle was actually the location of our gymnasium. It was torn down many years ago as it had fallen into a state of disrepair. Lots of delays over the years (from archeological excavations, fatal accidents, law suits) are the reason the area is still in this state seen above. Construction to build something new is scheduled to start in spring 2026.

In the process of building a robot. She really loves assembling stuff – Legos, furniture, you name it. This is the first time electronics are involved. Update: It is completed.

Mom cooking our traditional Christmas dinner. Happy Holidays, everyone!

Christmas tree ornament selfie.

👀 Had a look at the state of the new flat today. Still lots of work to be done.

Finally, some dedicated photography time again! 🙌 Went to Kettwig with Daniel. We walked through the old town and along the Ruhr river. It was a nice battery refill after a couple of packed days spent mostly indoors.

Update: Sorry about the missing context, it was late yesterday, when I posted this image and I just wanted to get it out. I need more light. Not in terms of photography, but in general. It will only get better after today! I guess the context to the image is still missing. 🤷♂️
