If you're fedup with the AI and other telemetry claptrap in #Chrome, #Edge, and #Firefox, try this: https://justthebrowser.com/
Elon Musk defends Grok feature that generates images of women and children stripped of their clothes (and much worse):

#Musk is beneath contempt and apparently quite stupid too.
Dear Amazon, if you're going to use AI enhanced synthetic speech for Audio Description on your Prime TV series, the least you can do is check it for pronunciation quality. The voice being realistic isn't enough.
In Talamasca: The Secret Order, AD mispronunciations include "Surré" instead of "Surrey", "alyus" instead of "alias", and "one hundreds" instead of "hundreds".
Let's Dance and Road To Hell (Part 2) are among the best tracks of my years. #RIP Chris Rea

Scientists recognize Type 5 Diabetes:

Type 1: insulin production collapse due to auto-immune reaction
Type 2: insulin resistance, often due to obesity
Type 3: insulin production collapse due to pancreatic damage (from cancer for example)
Type 4: age-related insulin resistance/collapse
Type 5: insulin resistance/collapse due to malnutrition, most often in childhood
The @TetraLogical team has gathered (online) for a day of retrospectives, updates, and opportunities to continue innovating what we do and the services we offer, plus a Christmas quiz to wrap it all up.
There might also be a selection of Christmas hats on display, and there's a rumour going around that my hat might not be black! 😊
Listening to the news, you'd think we were being invaded by people arriving in small boats...
It's actually 40,652 people in 2025.

In Aug, the UK Gov announced a £100m investment to "tackle people smuggling gangs".
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/investment-for-border-security-command-paves-way-for-new-crackdown-on-people-smuggling-gangs
That's basically £250k per person who arrives on a small boat.
WTF?

Well, thank f...
PerlBod just chucked some chorizo in the cauliflower cheese we had for dinner this evening.
I think I'm in love 💜
@nolan Just reading your post on the <time> element. I agree with your general assertion, but I'm curious how you're thinking a screen reader might handle the element if it were exposed in the acc tree?

@JonathanMosen A little while ago, I think you posted about your home automation setup. If that's right, could you remind me which platform/API you're using?

Tom Stoppard #RIP
The improbability of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead and the way scenes from Hamlet are woven into the narrative, captivated me the first time I read it, and made me a Stoppard fan for life.
Delighted to learn that my Accessibility and the Agentic Web post was included in the first edition of a new newsletter for the design curious, thoughtfully curated by Siddharth Jha:

I'm happy to share that I've written a chapter for a book called Digital Accessibility Ethics: Disability Inclusion in All Things Tech, to be published on 26 March 2026:

Looks like the DoJ is not going to issue the expected rulings on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) after all:

Under the current US administration, this is almost like a surprise, only not so much...
COVID booster sorted 💉💪
Patricia Routledge is one of the actors I most admire. A Woman of No Importance and the later Alan Bennet Talking Heads monologue A Lady of Letters, were among my many inspirations as I studied performing arts.
The (unconnected Ladies of Letters on Radio 4 with Prunella Scales still makes me chortle, and her portrayal of Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced "Bouquet") was, of course, just sublime.
Sometimes the simple things are the best. Tonight's dinner was gnocchi filled with spinach and mozzarella baked in a quick and dirty tomato sauce with basil and oregano, and some fat little chorizo sausages on the side. 😋

If anyone using iOS 2026 with VoiceOver has discovered how to use the call screening feature, I'd be glad of any tips.
I mean in terms of how to accept/refuse screened calls, not how to turn it on. Thanks 🙏
Huge thanks to @foo__ for helping me with a little CSS magic that means I can now indicate when posts on my blog have been updated 🥳
If anyone with knowledge of Sass has time, I could use some styling help with a minor change to my website that doesn't look quite right.
Change adds an "Edited" notation to posts that have been updated, but the text looks weird (or so I'm told).
Website uses Eleventy with Nunjucks templating, in case that's useful info.
Happy to pay for time.
Looking for RSS feed recommendations. Topics of interest include tech (generally), web, accessibility, web standards, AI, and food/cooking. Thanks 😊
