Some fluffy clouds above A41.
A blog where Florian tries to post one photo per day.

Some fluffy clouds above A41.

Ulya started university today and everything is a bit chaotic as a result. We need to find a new normal in terms of organizing our life, which might take a while, I recon. No dedicated photography time during the week. Hoping for the weekend! π€
Ulya texted me through her first day of orientation, when she also met her fellow students: "They still have their braces!" β I almost spit out my tea when this one came in. π

Didn't do much today. Which is totally fine.

We attended a school dance performance today. Kids were training all week for different routines and they did very well. Lots of phones were out, while the performances were going on.

Office plant.

Ice cream & shuttle service.
Watched the Fujifilm X Summit this morning. They're clearly inspired by Apple's Keynotes, but kind of amateurish (in comparison) in their execution. This is not meant as an insult, btw. I enjoy their stilted presentations β I think they come across more honest β and I am a fan of the company and their products. The new GFX100RF looks intriguing, though F4 is kind of a deal breaker. (In addition to the price tag.)

At the office there are still some leftovers from carnival, more than two weeks later!

Nice sunset light on A41 this evening.

Allergy test yielded: no allergies. π

Sidewalk chalk.

Took the above photo while waiting for my train at ZΓΌrich main station. I caught all connecting trains and am now on my last leg. While the first connection was the shortest distance ever β it took me exactly 20 steps from my seat, out of the train, across the platform into the other train to my seat β the second transfer was a bit hectic and involved running. Eh, the force needs to balance itself out, I guess.

Had a great day talking shop with Claudio. We also went for a stroll to get some food and, rather by accident, ended up wandering into some of the less scenic parts of ZΓΌrich.

Spent a couple of hours in Basel today. Hand a great time hanging out with some of the WCEU organizers and walking around the city. Remnants of carnival were still very visible everywhere.

I got nothing.

Lots of stuff going on today and no dedicated photography time, so A41 to the rescue. Took this from the bike while waiting for the traffic light to turn green. π€·ββοΈ

The equestrian fair is happening at Messe Essen this weekend, so there are lots of horses to be seen. (We stopped there often over the last few years, usually on our way home from kindergarten.) The weather was very nice yesterday, so we packed some snacks, found a place near the Gruga entrance, and watched a lot of horses pass by on their way from the makeshift stables (pictured above) to the fair grounds.

One more heron post with a couple of images from yeterday. I was a bit late so I didn't catch the same light as the days before. But shooting from the bridge allowed for some other angles.

Herons seem to have hit a nerve! Thanks for your emails telling me how much you like them. I love me some silhouettes, that's why today's photos are my favorites from yesterday's excursion. Also, I went back this morning again (!), this time to a bridge outside of Gruga, which gave me a different vantage point. Got some herons in flight, which I'll share tomorrow. Now I really want a longer lens.

Another morning walk in Gruga. Did I mention how much I enjoy those? π
Next to the pond in the second image are huge trees and on top of them, there are at least 10 heron nests. I watched them gathering material and fly up to the tree tops for a while. Time to whip out the ol' 55-200mm! (It's the longest lens I own.) Not sure if I can get anything interesting, though, as the nests are really quite high and the vantage point is bad. But I will try!

Observing our shadows.

Took this A41 photograph very early this morning. Love the light. The condensation trail is a nice little cherry on top.
Lumi turns eight today. π Unfortunately she's in bed with a fever. π€ Poor thing. Not how she envisioned her birthday.

The Lollipop.

Sometimes the last chance of the day for a photo is fetching the laundry from the basement.
In other news, I published my second month in review post.

Observing lines & light and shadow during an afternoon walk with my daughter.
Carnival at school was a succes btw., so yesterday's trip to the costume store was apparently worth it.
In other news, I haven't checked Mastodon or Bluesky in a couple of days. I'll make it at least a full week, so if you want to get in touch, how about an email? Also I have written down some thoughts about fediverse integration on my other blog.

Last minute costume shopping with my daugther. She's gonna be a ladybug.
Already saw lots of people in costumes today. I must confess, I was never a fan of "Karneval". The music associated with it here in Germany alone is enough to make me run in the opposite direction. Simply horrendous. The parades will allow for some great photo opportunities though, so I am not complaining. π

Rain running down on A41. (Photo from two days ago.) Shot this with this weeks #TheCompoChallenge ("leading lines") in mind.

The flock in mid flight.
I feel burnt out by the news cycle. I think it is time for a social media break. Donβt get me wrong, most interactions on Mastodon are lovely, but thereβs so much shit happening currently, which people are obviously talking about, and it is dragging me down. Iβll keep posting here (and probably on the other blog) though. And Iβll happily answer your emails. π

They cut down two huge trees in front of the school today, probably as preparation for the planned annex to the existing buildings.
