Fiery sunrise. This must be some kind of record for the earliest post. Love when I am done that early – especially with a picture that I am very happy with – rather than to scramble to post something at 11 pm. 🙂

I do not often mention work here, but since this is photography related: We currently have a sale over at picu, which – in my biased opinion – is the best photo proofing tool out there (if you are running WordPress). Check it out!

Monochrome image of my daughter wrapping a present

Wrapping the present she got for her sister's birthday, which is coming up in a couple of weeks.

The image shows a winter garden with a reflecting pool surrounded by wrapped plants, framed by a wrought iron arch and bare trees.

Early morning Gruga visit. Kind of amazing walking through the park, without anyone else being present. Quite the peaceful experience.

Still enjoying Claude assisting with the alt text generation.

The image shows a colorful graffiti-covered wall with a turquoise metal doorbell panel displaying various writings and marks in different colors. It has a vibrant, abstract, and textured aesthetic.

Garffiti-covered Doorbell.

Haven't mentioned it on this blog for a while: On Friday (in two days), I will order a new batch of project 366 zines. Part II and III are now done and ready for printing! If you are interested in owning a copy, subscribe to my newsletter. I'll send out the info on how to order tomorrow. (Big thanks to those who already put their orders in! 🙏)

The image depicts a nighttime cityscape with a large, imposing building surrounded by a canopy of bare, gnarled tree branches. The building is illuminated by various lights, creating a stark contrast between the dark branches and the bright, geometric architecture. The overall scene has a moody, almost ominous quality, with the stark black-and-white color palette adding to the dramatic atmosphere.

I am done with the dark and gloomy weather.

The image shows a firefighter using a ladder truck to look into some windows on the upper floor of a multi-story building

Not sure what was going on there. They extended the ladder, the guy looked into some windows, then folded everything back up. 🤷‍♂️ (The only photo I took today.)

A black and white urban landscape photograph taken along a river. A walkway or promenade runs along the riverbank in the foreground. The city skyline features a mix of modern office towers and historic church spires with pointed steeples. A pedestrian bridge with metal framework spans across the river. Dramatic clouds fill the sky above the cityscape, and the river's surface shows rippling patterns. A few people can be seen walking along the riverside path.

On my way home from Frankfurt. Lots of walking and talking with Claudio. Looking forward to going back to work on Monday! In find these in-person meet-ups essential and we definitely need to do this more often. And, maybe next time, we will finally not forget to make new team photos. 🙈

A dramatic black and white architectural photograph taken from a low angle looking up at several modern skyscrapers against a moody sky. The buildings feature geometric patterns of windows and strong vertical lines. The composition creates a stark contrast between the dark buildings and lighter sky, with the structures appearing to converge toward the center of the frame, emphasizing their imposing height and architectural grandeur.

In Frankfurt with Claudio for our end-of-year Haptiq meet-up.

It is no secret that I am very apprehensive when it comes to LLMs. However, earlier today Claudio showed me some very cool stuff, he has built with the help of – his almost namesake – Claude. So I caved in and created an account to try it myself. 🫣 I mean, it surely can help with simple tasks, no? So: The alt text for the image above was created entirely by Claude and I think, it did an amazing job.

Abysmal weather conditions today. Only went out side to get my kids to/from school/kindergarten. Took five (not so great) images, including the one above.

I can't believe it took us almost nine months (!) to get to Back to the Future Part II. I also didn't remember that part two and three were filmed back-to-back. They even showed previews of the third movie at the end of this one. Given our current trajectory we'll watch #3 in August 2025. 🙈

This is Ferdi. He played some Johnny Cash and Elvis and had a great voice, too. From our short conversation I learned that this is how he earns his living. In these situtations I always try to stop and listen for a couple of minutes (if I like the music). This makes it less awkward for other people to also stop and listen. 😊

We found a huge pile of leaves. The city probably forgot to clear it, because it is the only one around the neighborhood.

And these are some of my favorites from day two at beyond tellerand Berlin 2024 featuring Miriam Suzanne, Manuel Matuzovic, Sheryl Cababa, Paddy Donnelly and Hidde de Vries. As alway: Thanks for having me, Marc. What a pleasure and inspiration it is to document these events and meet so many lovely people. It is a truely unique and special event.

What a strange day. I feel kind of anxious. Didn't dare to open Mastodon (which is the only social media I consume). I'll just share a link to this post and that's it. The feeling of anxiety is probably compounded by the fact that I won't see my kids for two days, because – and this, on the other hand, is a very happy occastion – I made my way to Berlin to once more document beyond tellerrand, which will happen tomorrow and the day after. (There are still tickets available!) Anyways, the hotel is very pink.

Early morning – and very cold – walk. One of Gruga entrances lies conveniently on my way home after dropping off the kids, so if the weather is nice, I try to get a walk in early, with the added benefit of being able to take some photos.

Perfect fall weather today. Lumi wanted to take pictures of the deer in Gruga park, so we packed the long lens. Unfortunately the enclosure was closed due to deer mating season. So we pivoted towards owls. 🙂
