I know, it's not fair to call a note "banana cake- rant" and not mention "banana cake" once. Might I remind you, "Life is never fair, and perhaps it is a good thing for most of us that it is not." — Oscar Wilde.

I have been working on a new post type for The Commonplace Post, featuring HUGE header text that I want to always: fit across the page and flow on one line. Considering Fit Text, a typography option in WordPress Gutenberg. It seemed reasonable. According to the blurb under the setting, “The text will resize to […]

Okay. I want to call someone out, for being an a-hole. Their writing is impeccable, funny matter-of-fact. But it’s easy to be contrarian when you’re nobody online, hiding behind a mask. It’s the path of least resistance from how I see it. I hate how disgustingly good the writing is. It pisses me off.

It’s the middle of the morning, the first day after a full moon, my chest tightening–I’m holding my breath again. This self-imposed deadline is reaching a mass-critical which only means I care. “Righter writes writing right,” I read it back, “Do I mean ‘writer’?” The words are dancing at this point as the congas in […]

IndieWebCamp Nuremberg 2026, Create Day. I had a chance to launch sylLabel notebook and migrate my magic 8-ball to its own page. sylLabel Local storage, no server/tracking, one .html file. A quick place to write, draft poetry-prose, prosetry on the go for appealing screen-captures and what-not. Years ago, I hunted for a syllable counter because […]

Skin held firm, against flesh, surrounding rigid bones. In active step, these hands are not empty, steady even in darkness. In stride and embrace, the sun always rises. Buffering.. I believe this how the web “just” works when handling input fields: So, here’s the deal when I clicked a form input field my iPhone (in Safari) would zoom in on the page. It was driving me insane. Not sure where I stumbled on the “fix” or if I can even call it that, but […]

I was and still am obsessed with words. They can sting and brighten, soothe and choke in the same instance.
