I started documenting (whatever that means) the streets we walk every day. I have nothing else to photograph at the moment. 🤷♂️

This is my wife's Gedankenkiste (German for box of thoughts). It was one of my first presents to her (the box with the stenciled title) as a container for her diaries. It currently contains almost 28 years of handwritten diaries. She has tried many formats and notebooks over the years and it is a proper ritual every time a new one is prepared and the current one is archived. I'll probably have to get her another box soon.

It rained almost the whole day. There was a break in the late afternoon, which I used to head out with my camera. My headphones on with some music playing, I felt kinda inspired. (Although I recently heard someone say, that there is no such thing as inspiration and that you should just go out and play.) I walked these same streets hundreds – if not thousands – of times, but different things catch my eye every time – well at least when I am in photography mode. If my mind is occupied with other things, such as family or work, I don't see immediately and it takes some time to get into it. That's why it is more difficult to get photos I like during the week. Today though, I took the first image literally five seconds after I left the house.

Spent the day outside with the family and some friends. A rule is a rule: when you see a mirror (or a reflection), you take a selfie. I took two today!

Hung out at the playground after school – again. Between work and this new school thing for the little one, there's very little time for photography. Well, little dedicated photography time™. Let's hope for the weekend! 🤞

Bird feet. My daughter actually spotted the bird's shadowy imprints showing through the awning above us yesterday, when we left the restaurant where we celebrated her first day at school. I like it a lot. Made me think of the second shot in this post of some street photos I took way back in the day during a trip to New York. How is this 12 years ago? Time is weird.

Spent some time at the playground today. (Finally, after my mother-in-law's move took almost 100% of our time over the last few days, we could do something fun!)

Lots of work and more moving my mother-in-law's stuff from the old to the new flat. I am exhausted, though we are not quite done yet. Hope to find a little bit of time to do some photography over the weekend. 🤞 (Photo above from a couple of days ago.)

Was busy most of the day helping with my mother-in-law's move. (Pretty much the same move across the street we did at the beginning of the year, so we are in practice.) I only was able to get out to take some photos pretty late. Saw these amazing colors in the sky and we...

Another movie night – this time in a proper cinema. I can't even remember the last time I went to the cinema, must have been years! We saw "The End of Oak Street". I was entertained.

Back to the regular daily grind, I guess. Well not fully: I still have a couple of days off work – and tomorrow is my birthday! 🙂 Did a long walk to and through Gruga today.

Today was a travel day. Made it back home safely and smoothly. (No carsickness for the little one! 🙌) Above: an assortment of color images from this past week.

Perfect weather for a final day at the beach!
I should mention this more often: I am in the process of finishing my 10th anniversary zine – to celebrate this blog turning 10 years old in just a couple of days (on the 26th). Spent the first half of the day at the Marine Museum, which has an actual submarine (the Tonijn) you can walk through (and lie in the bunks). It was very dark inside, many blurry images (I like this one, though). Lots of interactivity for the kids. A good place to spend a rainy day. My favorite was the mock-white shark around a random corner! Of course we had to get closer and take some shark portraits.

Took a trip to Texel today, visited Ecomare, saw the baby seals and the lighthouse at the northern tip of the island. Shot photographed lots of seagulls that were flying along the ferry on the way to and from the island.

Spent the morning inside and the afternoon at an indoor swimming pool. Had some dedicated photography time to myself in the evening, hence more photos from the beach. (Please bear with me while I savor being at the ocean. 🙂)
