I’ve felt this for years (blogs have global context): “The uni-context is a scenario in which the ways you should act become the same across all different contexts. There’s just one set of norms you should follow all times, irrespective of context.”

The Cave House in Mexico City
Casa Cueva was completed in 1958 by artist Juan O Gorman. But in 1969, he sold the house to artist Helen Escobedo. She set off a controversy, which still sparks passion today, after she demolished parts of the house.
Valentina Di Liscia, a journalist and senior editor at Hyperallergic, was determined to get to the truth of the matter. Read here to read more about Casa Cueva.

Michael Tsai on My Retraction of the Astrology/Astronomy App Store Rejection Story
mjtsai.com/blog/2026/08/07/dark-hours-rejected-from-the-app-store/
Michael Tsai:
I’m really unhappy about this, both for my role in spreading a false story and because I think it will hurt the cause of reforming App Review. I know there are many crazy rejections and have experienced some first-hand. This story was believable because of that well-known history and because Godier didn’t seem like a nobody trying to get attention — he was the developer of another highly regarded app. But now people are going to point to true developer stories and accuse them of being fakes, too.
Same.

🎬 Father Mother Sister Brother
letterboxd.com/danielpietzsch/film/father-mother-sister-brother/

A lovely film about the relationships between parents and their kids, and some of the different ways this can go. It’s really not happening much. But I don’t know; Jarmusch always entertains me. And having three movies in one is fantastic: you can just spot all those little details and similarities among them without “having” to watch another one of his films. So, mix all the Jarmusch ingredients, multiply by three, serve them on a single plate, and Bob’s your uncle!

🎬 Basic Instinct

I sure have watched this back in the day. But I couldn’t remember much. And I certainly did not see the uncut version. Anyhow, this was suspenseful and sexy and psycho with a great story. Reminded me quite a bit of Hitchcock. And it has just the right amount humour. Loved all the car chases. And Sharon Stone’s character and acting is just perfect.

🎬 Mission: Impossible

So, I finally got to see that famous vault scene where Tom Cruise hovers over the ground. And that scene was indeed very cool. But overall, I found this to be a little boring. Maybe because I found the premise to be quite low-stakes, especially in relation to how many people of their internal force are sacrificed. And the end action sequence is ridiculous.
