Getting close to completing the fourth and final section of Bradshaw’s Guide. As of today, you can now find descriptions for all 1338 towns and cities published in the 1866 edition. Next up; adding the final set of routes and stations.
People and blogs involved with and about the IndieWeb community, the fediverse, and/or the open web in general.
Just noticed a new F1 movie ad in the Apple Sports app. So weird that Apple has become a company that doesn’t mind upselling everything, cluttering the UI of their own apps. It’s a pattern at this point.
David Pierce introducing the latest Vergecast:
Here’s a thought: what if the next-generation Siri is awesome? Not just awesome for setting timers and dictating text messages (though that would be nice), but so awesome and fun to talk to that people actually start falling in love with their iPhones. We may not be prepared for what happens next.
It could happen. Expectations are so low that Apple could surprise people. I’m just skeptical that Apple is prioritizing the right things to get there.

Quick trip up to Dallas this weekend to see the kids. The weather turned cold overnight! ❄️ Speaking of the winter… We’re starting a 12-day holiday photo challenge tomorrow. 🎄
Where do I see the IndieWeb in 2030?

A Really Simple social web
It's not just me that says that our social web is connected by RSS.
- Cory Doctorow said it.
- Molly White said it.
- And last week Ben Werdmuller said it.
If they all did it, we'd have all the freedom we could ever want.
So what's holding it up?
Let's make a resolution for 2026, that we the people, will demand that the social networking software we use get in tune with the web, and support two-way RSS.
I will help any and all to get this going.
I'm just like you, if you don't want your online world to be owned by billionaires.

Apple iWeb
The new X/Twitter algorithim is hard to predict, but I’ve had one go viral with over a million views now, a quote-tweet of a cool demo video of Apple’s website builder from 2009, with themes and blog support and everything. Interesting to compare its interface to Gutenberg and WordPress today. For the video to play … Continue reading Apple iWeb →
Great to see Wemby back tonight for the NBA cup semifinals, even in very limited minutes. 🏀

Morning
Thinking more about Australia… Our kids are adults now, and they grew up through the rise of Instagram, through Covid shutdowns… We can choose to make a better environment for the next generation, if society makes progress on social media. Less anxiety, fewer ads, more time away from screens.

Ann Greenberg's idea
Just wrote a post for Scripting News, then flipped over to Daveverse to see what it looks like. See for yourself. I think we've come pretty close to cloning Scripting in WordPress.
