OpenAI rolls out new things so often that it’s a little surprising they haven’t replicated Claude’s Artifacts. It’s such a nice workflow to generate HTML, CSS, and JS with an interactive preview right in the app.

Software isn't a thing
Dave Winer blogging about how software evolves with feedback from users:
Software isn’t a thing, it isn’t finished, it’s a process as it gets invented by the users. It’s a performing art. WordLand today is like a musician performing in a small club, working out the playlist, and hoping to be playing at theaters then arenas, and finally someday, if we’re very good, stadiums.

It's about time WordLand had a Bluesky account.
When we launched Micro.one, I was interested in simplifying the sidebar. I moved the link to manage blog post categories to another pane for all users. I now think that was a mistake. Today along with some other minor UI tweaks, I’ve added it back.

I hauled 200 pounds of quartz slab 10 miles on my bicycle from the slab yard today.
This is for the countertop for the short cabinets in the bedroom closet, under the fold down ironing board. This scrap was $60, but they almost didn’t let me leave with it on my trailer. I had to sign a thing that said I understand how heavy it is and I am taking responsibility for transporting it 😂

This Week in the IndieWeb
My programmer friend
I have been writing the colorful saga of my sad depressed programmer friend on Facebook, and it was getting some interest from friends until I moved it into a group and now no one reads it, which makes me sad and depressed too because the story of my programmer friend took an interesting turn after he maxed out on space, got a call from the NBA commisioner asking if he would mind officiating the Knicks two playoff games in Boston this last week. My friend, was of course quite sad and depressed, but he was also exhausted and bored, so he said yes. Here he is before the first of two games, which partially thanks to his officiating were near-blowouts for the Celtics, and thus the Knicks are up 2-0 heading into tomorrow's game in New York.

Great blog post by John Siracusa, distilling much of Apple’s current problem balancing doing good with making money:
Apple, as embodied by its leadership’s decisions over the past decade or more, no longer seems primarily motivated by the creation of great products. Time and time again, its policies have made its products worse for customers in exchange for more power, control, and, yes, money for Apple.
In two weeks I'll be speaking at the MCP Dev Summit in San Francisco! It's going to be a great day packed with back to back sessions.
In less than a year, the MCP project has quickly reshaped how developers are building AI agents. My talk, "Intro to OAuth for MCP Servers", will cover the basics of the new MCP authorization protocol and set the stage for building secure MCP servers.

I think the shape of the intellectual world will be vastly different after AI, and that its impact will overshadow the web as the web made card catalogs irrelevant. I'm pretty sure whatever comes next won't look very much like what we're using now, but it will probably evolve from what we have, although it's impossible to know.
