New Feature: "Go To"

There’s a new “Go To” functionality available, to quickly navigate to any of your feeds or lists.

The option is currently only shown on the navigation menu for larger screens, until the feature’s usability has been improved (in general, too, but in particular for those smaller screens).

One Week From Tonight: The Talk Show Live From WWDC 2025

ti.to/daringfireball/the-talk-show-live-from-wwdc-2025

Location: The California Theatre, San Jose
Showtime: Tuesday, 10 June 2025, 7pm PT (Doors open 6pm)
Special Guest(s): Definitely, but keep in mind what I announced last week
Price: $50

I’ll have more to announce about the show soon, but one week out, I just want to remind everyone that tickets are on sale now, and selling at about the same pace as the last two years. (In 2018 and 2019, when WWDC was a real in-person conference in San Jose, tickets sold out almost instantaneously.)

Also: at least one sponsorship slot is still available. If you’ve got a product or service you’d like to see me promote at the start of the show, shoot me an email.

‘Physicality: The New Age of UI’

lux.camera/physicality-the-new-age-of-ui/

Sebastiaan de With, in a wonderfully-illustrated piece (a) examining, in detail, where iOS UI has been, and (b) speculating, with detailed mockups, where he thinks/hopes it’s about to go, starting at WWDC next week: I’d like to imagine what could come next. Both by rende...

Event Creation Still Largely Feels Like an Unsolved UI Problem

daringfireball.net/linked/2011/05/17/fantastical

From my 2011 post linking to Fantastical 1.0: Fantastical’s primary innovation is its natural language parser for event creation — you type something like “Yanks-Rays tonight at 6:40” and Fantastical not only parses that into a new event, but, using some very clever anim...

Run Your Own AI

Run Your Own AI

Anthony Lewis published this neat, concise tutorial on using my LLM tool to run local models on your own machine, using llm-mlx.

An under-appreciated way to contribute to open source projects is to publish unofficial guides like this one. Always brightens my day when something like this shows up.

Quoting Benjamin Breen

By making effort an optional factor in higher education rather than the whole point of it, LLMs risk producing a generation of students who have simply never experienced the feeling of focused intellectual work. Students who have never faced writer's block are also students who have never experienced the blissful flow state that comes when you break through writer's block. Students who have never searched fruitlessly in a library for hours are also students who, in a fundamental and distressing way, simply don't know what a library is even for.
