theverge.com/games/668478/puzzmo-is-finally-getting-an-app

Scheduled to drop Monday, but you can click-through to pre-download it now. If you’re not familiar, Puzzmo is sort of a collection of “newspaper puzzle games for the online age”. (Which is also a good description for recent DF sponsor Lex.Games.) One of Puzzmo’s cofounders i...

I Like Good Art and I Cannot Lie

I was reminded the other day of what a curated treasure trove of art 20x200 is. So I took a spin through their archive and pulled out some favorites. First up are these Always Choose Happy prints from Amos Kennedy (I also like his Book Lovers Never Go to Bed Alone prints): ...

The Good Luck Fish

The Public Domain Review has published some lovely illustrations of goldfish from a 1780 monograph called Histoire naturelle des dorades de la Chine. Histoire naturelle des dorades de la Chine (1780) — the dorades in the title refers not to sea bream but the fish’s gilded appearance — was the first monograph on goldfish published in Europe, from a time when the fish were still bound up with Eastern exoticism in the Western imagination. You can peruse the entire document at the Internet Archive. Tags: art · fish · illustration 💬 Join the discussion on kottke.org →

Apple Is Not Reinstating Fortnite to the App Store, and Because of the Stunt-Like Way That Epic Submitted the Latest Build, Fortnite Is Currently No Longer Available on iOS Anywhere in the World

x.com/markgurman/status/1923404412090782109

There’s an old adage in poker: If you look around the table and you can’t tell who the fish is, that means you’re the fish.

If you’re surprised at how this publicity stunt from Epic has turned out, especially if you’re a reporter and ran a piece accepting Tim Sweeney’s word that Fortnite was — not might be, but was — coming back to the US App Store as a fact, then you are Tim Sweeney’s fish.

How to Cure What Ails You

25:01
Now that we have the ability to see inside the brain without opening anyone's skull, we'll be able to map and define brain activity and peg it to behavior and feelings. Right? Well, maybe not, or maybe not just yet. It seems the workings of our brains are rather too complex ...

Daniel Pietzsch Verified Updates instantly via WebSub Supports Webmention Valid

Next Thursday, May 22nd at 6 pm, there’s going to be a Homebrew Website Club Düsseldorf. Co-organised by Schepp and myself, we plan this to be the first HWC event in a series of regular events.

I quote from the IndieWeb wiki page to explain what an HWC is:

Homebrew Website Club is a growing world-wide network of meetups for everyone who wants to take back their web experience from social media silos, and own their online identities & content, or just want support with blogging!

So, if you’re interested in this sort of thing, and can make it to Düsseldorf, you’d be very welcome to join. (We still have to confirm the location, and will update the event page as soon as possible.)
