For many years I have only used laptops. Because who has the space for a tower PC? But now with the Steam Machine sitting on my desk I can no longer unplug and continue work on the couch. A quick look around the internet pointed me at the Sunshine and Moonlight combo. So I w...

The sets, the clothes, the makeup, the props - it’s all a little goofy and overdone. And I think this fits the film perfectly. Because it’s not taking itself too seriously. It’s a great Akschn Fuim and simply entertaining from start to finish in all its 80s glory. No shit!

Today is “Send a Friend a Webmention Day!” What’s that? See indieweb.org/send_a_friend_a_webmention_day, and the 2026 event page. I’m running late, and these folks may not have websites which support webmentions but nonetheless they are great friends, acquaintances, or really interesting people worth knowing about. Have a great weekend everyone! And now, the list (in randomized...

I hear the birds singing as I sit by the window and look out on the horizon. I like looking at all the colours of the sky in the moments after sunset, when ambers recede and the sky becomes ever more blue before night time. I hear the sound of my fingers typing on my keyboar...

I watched the movie "Valentines Day" (2010) for the first time today, which stars, among others, Taylor Swift. The energy in this scene (especially the enthusiastic and excited way in which the words are said, while Taylor carries a huge bear) 1 fills me with joy:
[call out: "Save the Lattes!"]
Taylor: They're putting lattes in the vending machines? Finally!
Taylor: Robbie, I am so glad you are taking care of this.
Robbie: You got it.
Taylor: And, I like caramel lattes, just FYI.
I am not a fan of caramel lattes, but I do love this scene!

This was fantastic. It has a great crew with its space-movie typical in-fights and betrayal, stunning imagery, gripping action; and absolutely fucking golden space suits. I wish I could watch this in a cinema at some point again.

in change, new
beginnings – of
stories and; what
if.

making notes and reviewing quotes,
collected from day and night:
here, there are stories.

i revel in observing, and
in place-
making.
where am i? how do i feel?
what does this mean to me?

i think of the melody of words
their cadence and shape and tense
and from all, i feel:.
from words, wonder;
with words, wonder.

On my 22nd birthday, two years ago, I had a pretty pleasant day. I don't really remember what about it was good, I probably had an enjoyable task at work and a good time with collegues; and in my good mood, I also went down to the book shop right outside my workplace and picked up War and Peace. The cashier made a little comment as he scanned the book, apparently impressed or surprised.

Why'd I pick it up? Well, why would anyone want to read the book? Because it's a classic and everyone says it's good. Was it? Yes! But not in the sort of way I expected it to be.

So much in my mind and notebooks. It’s good. Last week I started a page with rough ideas which I might implement at some point. It’s at /ideas/. Comic-Con was so great. Still a few more days to get in an entry to this month’s IndieWeb Carnival. In a few days will be Send a...

In Camera, one of the songs on her latest album, CharliXCX sings: When the camera's on I can be anything that I wanna be And I can feel the things I don't normally feel When I heard these words, I couldn’t help but think about them from an art history perspective. Portraits ...

I wrote this post on Thursday, July 23rd, and reviewed and slightly refined it today. I have left the post as a stream of consciousness – a snippet of my mind as it was on the morning I walked around and saw the world. Walking among the stream of people; of stories of life ...

I woke early — it has been warm lately. It is strange how you can find a burst of energy at 5am, but today it came, for I decided to organise my bookshelves, sorting what books I am ready to donate to the local charity shop. I picked up books — stories — and thought about t...
