IndieWeb Fiction Carnival September 2026 Roundup
You Should Go to ffconf
I totally would love to go to ffconf, but sadly I am building up an event that help running on the 13th, which takes place on the 14th.

Well, I can’t go sadly, but YOU should! ffconf is a labour of love from Remy and Julie, who have run it themselves for 17 years! Their warmth shows in everything. It’s a single-track day in the cosy Duke of York’s cinema, so everyone shares the same thoughtful curated talks and has something to chat about afterwards. Exactly the way I like it. Join a seafront run, a coffee morning and/or a “Lunch with Future Friends”. I bet no one ends up alone, right?
And next to attending a great event, buying a ticket for ffconf on Friday 13th November is also a small vote for keeping independent, community-run events like this alive!
Information and registration here.

Colonist settlers thanked divine providence for the fallow land they found near Plymouth Rock. And that helped them to ignore the agriculture of the Wampanoag people who helped them survive their first few winters by sharing the fruits of that agriculture.
Michael D Wise, the author of Native Foods: Agriculture, Indigeneity, and Settler Colonialism in American History, helped me to understand how the Wampanoag provisioned themselves.

Some days you cycle to the foot rabbit. Other days, you walk to the bicycle rabbit. Yesterday was one of those days.

Wonders of Web Weaving, Episode 22
The twenty-second episode of Wonders of Web Weaving is out:
In Episode 22, I chat with Tracy, the author of tracydurnell.com about, how websites fit into writing, writing series of posts, websites as part of conversations, and more.
I hope you enjoy the episode!
Wonders of Web Weaving also has an RSS feed you can use to follow along from wherever you get your podcasts.
The episode was released on Tuesday, October 11th. I usually publish the blog post announcement on the day, but I forgot this week.
When you finally find some molasses in a local shop and it isn’t yet cold enough for porridge for breakfast, obviously you make molasses cookies.
Walking
The views
“Wow, look at the views!” called out a young girl, maybe four years old, on the train. After making a few more observations, she repeated the words — “Look at the views.” — then said “Dad, I can see the forest.” “Wow, look at those stones. They are so big.”
It was a delight to hear the world narrated through another’s eyes, to have what I saw out the window verbalised, giving room for me to think about the forest, to notice the stones — to hear how there is always something to see wherever we look.
The family were a few tables away, but their voices carried far.
Need to withdraw this question. I discovered this morning the my LBS (Local Brompton Shop) had this lovely pair of pedals which he gave me at a steep discount because they had been mounted once and then immediately remounted because the customer “didn’t like the look of them”. I can live with that.
Craft & Work London 2026 – My Photos
Keir and Craig once more did a fantastic job in organising and running Craft & Work 2026 in London. A great day with lots of good conversations.

I had the pleasure of capturing the atmosphere and vibe during the event and here is my set of photos.
Reply via EmailApple Charger with C7 Figure‑8 Power Cord
When speaking to my friends Keir and Craig, I just found out that a lot of people don’t know that you can use a “C7 figure‑8 power cord” with any Apple power adapter in case you forgot your travel adapter.

Way cheaper to get one of those usually than a full travel adapter (hint: often times even free if you borrow your hotel’s TV cable 🫣)
Reply via EmailWell, that's a major downer. Was scheduled to go out with the local Bromptonauts for a tour of the city's obelisks, went to top up the tyres, discovered the back wheel had a puncture. In a mad rush, because of course I had left checking too late, I took it apart, fixed the hole with a quick patch, pumped it up and discovered I had failed to fix the hole.
So, excursion abandoned, and I am peeved at myself for waiting till the last minute to prepare.

📄 FLE updates
Last week, I received a nice comment about my little 35mm Focal Length
Equivalents site (short: FLE). And that was enough motivation to improve
the site. I still had - and still have - ideas to improve the site, and so
I spent some hours to make it a little better.
