On Using a Proper Camera

I don’t know what it is, but I don’t like taking pictures with a smartphone. Every few years, whenever I get a new phone, I try using the (latest and greatest™) camera to take photos, but I’ve never warmed up to it. The physical act of framing and taking images with a phone ...

They showed this at the local cinema, the Atelier. I always enjoy a good studio documentation - especially one of such an interesting band and one that's as well done as this one. And I'm very glad no one fell off that roof, WTF!?

🎬 Burn After Reading

I wanted a Coen movie, I got a Coen movie. Absolutely hilarious. And another fantastic cast. They were all a delight to watch, but I probably liked John Malkovich's performance the most. Also loved the idea with the CIA guy reporting those summaries of what had happened. Clever and funny.

I got a 365 points knowledge score on this year’s #StateOfCSS survey! I have used 27 features, and knew 19 more, placing me in the top 100% of all respondents. Can you beat my score? https://survey.devographics.com/survey/state-of-css/2026?source=post_survey_share

Finally got around to setting up Syncthing to sync files between my Linux machine and my Mac. Not sure why it took me this long. It works like a charm and transfers files almost instantly over my local network. This will make working on both machines so much easier.

I’ve been using Whereabouts for a couple of weeks now, to learn to identify all the countries on the world map. It is pretty fun and I am learning a lot. It also triggered a couple of deep dives into countries I knew nothing about. E.g. Eswatini (formerly known as Swaziland) and its absolute monarch ruler, who has 11+ wives. Sounds like a standup kinda guy…

Ja, war voll ok. Hatte ein paar gute Sprüche, Situationen und Gags in guter alter Stromberg-Manier im Programm. Nicht mehr und nicht weniger.

Hey @badlogic and @mitsuhiko — have you looked at Next Frontier AI yet?

https://next-frontier.ai/

The more I read about it, the more I feel Europe doesn’t just need new frontier models. It also needs the infrastructure layer around them: coding harnesses, local-first agents, evals, reproducible environments, trajectory/session collection, RL data pipelines, etc.

Projects like pi and the broader local-LLM ecosystem feel surprisingly aligned with that vision.

Have rewatched this after a looong while. And the first time not dubbed. Still so so good and so funny. Every scene is perfect. The cast and their performances, the dialogue… One of my favourite movies of all time.
