A beautiful film! I would’ve probably liked this even better as a teen.But I’ve just now watched this. Still somehow things felt somewhatfamiliar.
I did only see the German dubbed version, so I think it’d be worth it toat some point see the original.
At first I thought: ah, this seems a little too silly and old-school; doI really want to watch this? But then it convinced me more and more.
It’s pretty scary stuff. Plus super-violent and splattery. And thatending!! Old-school effects galore!
Remarkable film. Didn’t regret this at all!
Maybe towards the end, it’s a bit longer than necessary. But other thanthat I was again very well entertained for almost 3 hours.
The splatter is just so over the top it’s ridiculous! And so much fun.Despite the serious topic. Poah, and that first Mandingo fight scene inMonsieur Candie’s mansion is almost unbearably violent and cruel.Justified IMO, but bloody hell!
Acting, script, pace, etc. all perfect. Very satisfying revenge film.
I’m so into this album again – or even still. It’s fascinating to me, how you can do that much with only three instruments (at a time). And then the vocals add another layer. So, I’m really enjoying discovering and analysing all the different parts. It just keeps giving. And TOOL’s great live performance certainly played a huge part in making me dive into this again.
Very well deserved that this is the first album to appear a second time in this list.
Mal wieder mit dem Kind einen Film geguckt. Dieser ist sehr zu empfehlenals Einstieg: keine bedrohlichen Szenen, nicht zu lang, es sind ehereinzelne Episoden in einem Film – aber mit einem leicht zu verstehendemübergeordneten Thema.
Mit fast fünf hat sie die ganze Zeit aufmerksam zugeguckt und oft auchgelacht. Und auch für Erwachsene ist der durchaus unterhaltsam.
This was more of a dumb-phone than a smart-phone. The supernatural neverexplained, unnecessarily violent in places, constructed jump-scares, andkid-characters that weren’t believable. I don’t know why Ethan Hawkeeven “starred” in this. It’s also a weird mix of some highschool movie,“Silence of the lambs”-style thriller and “the sixth sense”. But inboring. I’m sorry!
Objectively, this wasn’t a good movie. It just wasn’t suspenseful atall. And the ideas? Meh!
We still had a great evening, though! Part 3 is missing in ourcollection, which held us back from continuing the series. Luckily Udocame around with the DVD box set, so that we could finally continue. Wewere made aware that this was filmed in “3D”, featuring the usual “woah,something’s flying towards the camera” moments. Hilarious! So, this andits trashiness in general entertained us very well.
23 shows in 45 days all over the world. Made possible by using their ownplane, piloted by their singer Bruce Dickinson. You get to know the bandmembers – a very likeable bunch – and it includes live clips of theirhits. What’s not to like? Right: nothing!
Finally developed some rolls of film again. It’s been months since the last time.
Made 1.5 litres of fresh fixer, got the 5-reel tank out of the cupboard and developed some HP5 @1600. One of those rolls was from back in December.
A second batch – 5 rolls of APX 400 – is also already hanging to dry. Feels good to make progress on that front again. (But let’s not talk about the scanning backlog or posting to the journal, ok!?)

Red Fang on this year’s Hellfest. The band rocks hard. The crowd goes wild. And all beautifully filmed and edited with great sound.

As far as Zombies movies go, this certainly does not deviate from the usual plot. But the Zombies are filmed in an interesting way, emphasising their insanity and speed. I prefer my Zombies rather slow and clumsy, though. But this definitely had some good scenes! Some special effects were sub-par unfortunately. But overall I was well entertained. The characters were good, and I liked the sad yet beautiful ending.

Those guys are always delivering a good mood. You wanna crack one open and then party along. Plus, their bass player – Land Phil – also has a mean sound.
I was looking for bass inspiration – both for playing and sound – and decided to check out Muse’s Chris Wolstenhome in more detail. And I ended up listening to that playlist quite a bit recently.
I thought this had potential. But it was a little boring I’m afraid.Predictable, average acting and the constant wide-angle shots wereannoying. I’m probably too critical, I’m sorry.

Last minute – on Sunday – I bought a ticket for the TOOL concert last Tuesday at Lanxess Arena in Köln. A great decision! What a fantastic (live) band!
Loved how they partly looked at each other to coordinate (or recoordinate) some parts, and how everyone operated their own pedal board and effects. And, of course, how they played their instruments. And I was pretty close at the side of the stage to see a lot of what was going on.
Easily one of the best gigs I’ve been to, and absolutely worth the money!
Played this song recently with friends for another friend’s birthday jam. And I wanted to record this real quick. This song is really fun to play. But not easy, mainly due to all the string-skipping, muting and timing. And you can unfortunatly see this in this take.
Recently the magical Moises app was recommended to me, and that’s what I used to play the backing track. The app removed the guitar tracks for me, so that I can play over the rest of the band. Crazily good!
Always inspiring to listen to Jack White. And I learned there’s a Third Man Records Store in London now. For sure going to visit that one next time I’m there!
