🎬 Rope

Movie poster for “Rope”.

I like movies that play in a single room – like a play at a theatre. It’s a pretty morbid play. And pretty clever. Reminded me of Columbo at times. Bonus points for making it look like a one-shot movie. Thumbs up!

🎬 Blade Runner 2049

Movie poster for “Blade Runner 2049”.

A rewatch. First time was in the cinema, where this movie is much more impressive of course. But I liked it a second time on the TV, too.

Convincing story. Amazing futuristic and dystopian world. Probably would watch a third time at some point.

🎬 The Thing

Movie poster for “The Thing”.

One more horror classic. One more great film!

Reminded me of Alien in a few ways.

Great special effects. Great set. Great story. Great acting.

🎬 About Endlessness

Movie poster for “About Endlessness”.

My second Roy Andersson movie.

He has a unique style. And I think I still need to get used to it. Nevertheless, this was entertaining with it’s dry humor. I probably didn’t fully “get” this film, though.

🎬 Rosemary’s Baby

Movie poster for “Rosemary’s Baby”.

Another classic – from 1968! – I’ve never seen before. It’s deservedly highly respected! This must have inspired so many horror-movies after it. I can’t recall an earlier (horror) movie with that “secret backdoor” element, the “nosy neighbour cliché”, the “is the protagonist going crazy or is she right?”-storyline, or that “look through the door spy”-shot. And there are probably even more firsts in there.

Hail chocolate mouse! Hail Satan! Hail Rosemary’s Baby!

🎧 Meliora – Ghost

Ghost’s “Meliora” album made a return to my rotation. Songwriting par excellence.

🎧 TRILOGY – Carpenter Brut

Pretty unusual for me since it’s very electronic. But great stuff!

🎧 Hiss Spun – CHELSEA WOLFE

Got into Chelsea Wolfe. Mainly her “Hiss Spun” album. It’s a bit like the heavy, less electronic, even more melancholic version of Portishead. Also reminds me of the acts that would play Twin Peaks’ Roadhouse. Love it!

🎧 Moontower – Dan Swanö

“The Big Sleep” was on some sampler when I was a teenager. I stumbled across this song again, and have now been listening to the whole “Moontower” album quite a bit. In case you don’t know: Dan Swanö plays all the instruments and does the singing, too. A true one-man-band.

🎬 Queen & Slim

Movie poster for “Queen & Slim”.

A first date takes a fateful turn when a racist cop stops the two for a minor traffic violation. The cop ends up dead. They flee, and a days-long chase through the US ensues.

This film is very much fitting regarding the current #blacklivesmatter movement. It showcases on a few occasions how black people feel about the police; and how one might react when the police is rather considered an enemy than a friend.

It’s also a film about loneliness, companionship, trust and love.

Thumbs up!

🎬 Wrong

Movie poster for “Wrong”.

An absurd film. And pretty funny. Music and sounds are ace. I liked the visuals, too, because the rendition of the used lens(es) looked pretty “classic” to me – and I like “classic”. Apparently the writer/director Quentin Dupieux has some sort of cult status. I didn’t know him until this.

More nostalgia than anything else. Was ok. Wouldn’t watch again.

🎬 Lost Highway

Movie poster for “Lost Highway”.

Given that Nicole is a huge David Lynch fan, it’s surprising I haven’t watched this in full until recently. And I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great Lynch-y-en atmosphere and strangeness. Would watch again.

Well-written and filmed Cluedo/whodunnit-type movie. With star-cast. Awesome!

I bought my first bass guitar: an Epiphone Thunderbird. Should have done this earlier, because it’s so much fun!
