Thoughts about replies in RSS Chat
Interesting article about the difficulty of getting/discovering replies in a RSS Chat world and possible solutions.

That makes me think about a possible role for Downread's feed catalog. Downread already evaluates and stores RSS Chat's inReplyTo. But it's not using it yet. It could, however, use it to create a list of replies to a post or feed. Maybe that's a useful feature worth exploring.
Toni Schneider, CEO of Bluesky, responded to my advice, and I responded to that. Someday I hope that thread will be browsable in either app, and could be written in either app (Bluesky or RSS.chat) or any other compatible app, which basically means supporting RSS 2.0 with some new elements to get us to the next level of discourse with just a few little standards, like podcasting, but for text.
Ed Sheeran’s Concerts at Gillette Stadium Cancelled Due to Severe Weather Forecast
“The decision was made with the safety of fans, staff and everyone involved in the shows as the top priority. Refunds are available now at the point of purchase. Ticketholders who purchased through Ticketmaster will be automatically refunded.”
You can’t make this stuff up lol imagine if he simply would’ve had a spine. The outcome would’ve been the same either way, but at least his reputation would still be intact.
Just realized I never paused my Libro.fm subscription when I thought I did, so now I have nine credits sitting in my account. I guess I should find a few audiobooks to listen to.
The Turning: How Fall Color Moves Across North America
Fall is my absolute favorite time of year. I’m not sweating 24/7, the bugs are going away and, most importantly, it’s spooky season. This site gives you a cool visual timeline of the changing colors across North America this time of year.

Internet and Blockchain Will Kill Nation-States
Information rules. “The clergy was generally educated. They knew, among other things, the local vernacular, latin, and could read. Since the commoners didn’t speak Latin anymore, they couldn’t read the Bible directly, so the clergy became gatekeepers of the relationship with God. The clergy also exclusive had access to handwritten books. They strengthened that with… Read More »Internet and Blockchain Will Kill Nation-States

I vibe coded a little thing that shows links from my RSS feed and ranks them with a really basic algorithm based on things I up/down vote and how long it’s been since they were posted: 100links.org.
It’s just my personal RSS feed for the most part but I thought it was a neat addition to my blog.

Preserving HCL Connections Communities with connections-export
Some HCL Connections communities have been running for more than 15 years. Their discussions, documents, and decisions form a valuable collection of organizational knowledge. New employees and people changing teams can use this history to come up to speed, so losing it would be a serious problem.
The HCL Connections preview server is a good example. Content disappeared there after an update, and nobody had preserved it. An archive would have kept that knowledge available.
This week I found connections-export, a Python project for creating portable archives from HCL Connections content. It looks like an awesome tool for preserving a community’s current state in an open format.
