My apologies if you just saw a bunch of posts from me show up in your feed reader. I migrated from https://calebhailey.com/atom.xml to https://calebhailey.com/feeds/main.xml a few weeks ago and didn't setup a redirect. 🙃

Finding things in Expense
The search box on the expense list in Expense understands fields now. report:, category:, and merchant: match exactly, case-insensitive, and description: matches anywhere in the description. Values can contain spaces: report:2026 travel is one filter, not two. Repeating a key ORs (merchant:shell merchant:chevron), mixing keys ANDs,
Miami U. researcher says armadillos have likely arrived in Ohio
“A lady found him in the morning in her driveway, and she posted that on Facebook, saying, ‘Hey, I have a dead armadillo. Do you think that’s interesting?’ And I emailed her and said, ‘Yes, that’s very interesting. I’m going to be there in five minutes. I’m going to come pick it up,” Tereza Jezkova, Ph.D., associate professor of biology, tells WVXU.
This is the most exciting thing to happen in Ohio all year — and it holds a lot more weight than the dead “mountain lion” spotted a couple months back.
BTW, the rootupdates process is working now, you can follow changes via an RSS 2.0 feed, of course. In this version, the feed is the way updates are transmitted. The enclosure on each item is a fat page. And because it's a feed, I can follow it in FeedLand, and the blogroll on scripting.com picks it up too. Screen shot.

Prompted by an HN thread: The Local LLM Ecosystem Doesn’t Need Ollama
Ollama is built on llama.cpp. For more than 400 days it ignored a GitHub issue asking it to say so. That’s the headline complaint in a recent Hacker News thread — but the more useful finding, buried underneath, is that llama.cpp no longer needs a wrapper at all. On a Mac it’s now the simpler choice, not the harder one.
Half the Finlas Water Loop
Finlas Water Hills started bright, low (400m or so) clouds. Quite a few birds, ravens, crows, hoodies, buzzards, a kestrel, pipits. Between Creaghan & Ruisg put up a snipe. By then clouds thick, visibility 30-100 metres. Flora turning, lots of scabious, some grass of Parnassus.
Until we start working together and for each other it’s going to keep getting worse.
In many ways JavaScript is a better language than UserTalk. For example I miss JSON constants. I miss certain language constructs, like conditional assignments. We don't have the idea of a const. On the other hand, JavaScript doesn't have environment features Frontier has. I want to have Atlantis run JavaScript the same way Cancoon (the codename for the kernel of Frontier before this version) ran AppleScript.
‘I Felt Super Violated’: Men Wearing Meta Glasses on Dates Is an Instant Red Flag
The next day, checking her Instagram, McAnuff noticed she’d been tagged in one of his story posts. To her surprise, it was footage of them at the bar and on the subway together, en route to a basketball game uptown.
Imagine if someone followed you around with their phone out, recording the entire date. You would immediately tell them to fuck off. The sole purpose of pervert glasses is to be a creep and do shit like this without raising any suspicion. I don’t care about the light; they’re gross by design.

an empire of grift
Empire of Grift - The Atlantic
this is a rather eye popping rundown of the activities and the engagements of the current administration. it’s sobering to see all of the bullshit of the past couple of years laid out like this. but, there it is. with the firehose of shit we’ve endured i forgot about a few of these. oh shit, yeah … there’s a purported, “board of peace”.
what’s clear these days is that only power matters. the pretense of doing anything good or a larger more civically minded undertaking has been tossed out the window. the notion of being a city on the hill is poof … gone.
