I love my RSS reader. It’s the first thing I reach for when I’m “catching up.” As I’m reading through my list of feed items, I often come across blog posts that do not give me any way to interact with the post!

Sleep
When the day came, I had slept little enough that I felt good. I was laughing and dancing and I knew that I would crash the van if I was allowed to drive it. If I stopped, I felt the churn behind my eyeballs. So I didn't stop.
Saw this in the Philippines - priced at USD37!

Open Tabs CW35/2026
A normal homeoffice week, but still full of ideas and to-dos after FrOSCon. Linux celebrated the 35th birthday this week, have fun reading this weeks link collection.
ohhh, Dark Matter is back!
Mother Dearest - Clare Bird (Rating: ★★★☆☆)
Heard an interview with Bill Gates on an Atlantic podcast, he relies on a few years of programming he did when he was in his teens and twenties, yet he is the most prominent person who knows anything about programming. This is a societal mistake. We have to have public discourse about tech that's as informed as Krugman is on economics, and Heather Cox Richardson is on American history.

Why I don’t write about tai chi
I’ve been doing tai chi off and on for over 40 years. I’m at the point where I feel qualified to teach it. Yet I’ve never written about it until now.
It’s hard to write about, not just for me but for anyone. I have read books and articles about tai chi and they are interesting to a certain extent, but always somehow seem lacking.
The only way you can really get an understanding of tai chi is by experiencing it. The only way you can learn is from an instructor, who in turn learned from another instructor.
Books, articles and videos can be an affirmation of your experience. They may support what you have learned in class. But they can never be a substitute for the real thing.
Tai chi has to become part of your life, something you do regularly because it embodies what you are, or what you are becoming. It’s not something out there. It’s something inside.

Finally came up with a use case for pastey. When I am robocoding over SSH, I can't paste images. Big boooo. But I can give it a URL to an image :-)

Optimizing things in the USSR
And more like this. “To reduce the dimensionality of the problem, administrators would often track the total tonnage of a few broad classes of steel tubes in the models, rather than using a more detailed classification scheme. While their models successfully balanced the tonnage of tubes for the broad categories (the output in tons of… Read More »Optimizing things in the USSR

Why Could Lebanon Be Rich, but Is so Chaotic?
The OGs. “The Phoenicians were thus the main vector of civilization and technology spread in the Mediterranean. The Greeks and Romans are simply their technological heirs, learning from them how to navigate and trade.” https://unchartedterritories.tomaspueyo.com/p/why-could-lebanon-be-rich-but-is
