Carl's Burgers (239/365)

iPhone shot and processed Five and a half hours of driving today, no real photography time, just quick stops for snapshots with the iPhone. Today’s goal was getting out of the heat. Drove north as fast as we could to escape from 115F/46C to 79F/26C. It’s been a wildly adventurous start to the trip. Hopefully, within the next day or two, I’ll have time to write up the story. It involves heat warnings, 115F heat, no AC, late-night emergency callouts, desperate searches for a hotel that accepts large dogs, misery, sweat, $3500 dollars, despair, and then finally meeting wonderful people, lots of hope, and cold air. I hope today brought you something good. Thanks for stopping by. Click for Stray Pixels 👾👾👾👾

Abstract Art? - Stressed Dogs - Dehydration (237/365)

Well. Sad day on the photo front today. We are down to the wire. We leave tomorrow morning to start driving North. Long day of packing and cleaning. The dogs are a hot mess of stress and worry. Every year it’s the same thing; they see all the packing and moving around and t...

Desert Gold (236/365)

iPhone shot and processed I walked outside to bring in the trash cans, and wow! The sunset was just aglow. I snapped a couple of shots with the iPhone, ran in to grab a bigger camera, and it was already gone. It came and went really fast. There is something to be said for the phrase, the best camera is the one with you. No saturation boost or anything; I just darkened the shadows a bit and added some sharpening and clarity. Lots of prep work, cleanup, and busyness to get ready. Good day, but I’m just amazed at how sore I am. Up and down some ladders, packing stuff in and out, scrubbing, cleaning, up and down off the ground, and I’m so sore at night. I always think I’m in O.K. shape from swimming, but oh no, I’m clearly not. It reminds me that a workout is not just at the gym; normal work around the house is a great workout. Very foggy morning today, and I saw a deer in the fields on my way to the gym. Sadly the autofocus missed on all the photos.

Downward Spiral (235/365)

iPhone shot and processed One last trip to the airport to drop off some paperwork. The parking garage is always good for an architectural shot. I love concrete in black and white. Started the day with a really good hour-long swim, then prepping for the road trip. Working ou...

It's hard to find subjects in a small town. Compared to the city there's less anonymity here, and I don't want to photograph people in their day-to-day life. Similarly, I don't want to photograph peoples houses or gardens, and I also don't want to knock on the door and ask if I could take a picture of their house or garden; it just feels weird.

Guess I'll get used to it eventually, or figure out what and where to photograph.
