🔗 Trump To Order Redesign of Aircraft Carriers Because They Don’t Look Right

This comes after Trump just a few days ago ordered the Navy to go back to steam-powered catapults (the thing that hurls the planes forward off the ship for takeoff) from the new electromagnetic catapults. He apparently wants to do this because he once talked to a catapult operator who told him the old kind was better.

How many genders are there?

It’s popular for certain news organizations to have their reporters ask politicians how many genders there are. The “right” answer, apparently, is two. But a question like this is not fair to the politician or to voters. A politician’s opinion about the number of genders is ...

Brent Simmons posted a note in RSS.chat about how to connect with NNW. I have a fairly detailed response, that says dynamic OPML is the way to go, in both directions. I know serving it publicly will be a problem, that's why we're going to move FeedLand into position to solve that. FreshRSS, InoReader and my own FeedLand already support it. It feels like this is getting established. I still want a podcast client to work here. I've pitched a few of them.

Damn… There isn’t one single actively developed IndieWeb/Micropub mobile app on the Android playstore. Even IndiePass has been discontinued. I don’t want to start from scratch but I’m considering if I should do something about it. I’m fine publishing on mobile using my browser but IndiePass was quite handy and better integration with Android Share to targets.

Sometimes I need to use a Google-style search engine to find something on a reference site. That no longer works in Google. This is a major feature pullback. So far all we've heard in journalism is how it hurts their bottom line, but nothing about the world's information architecture. This is something like every bridge in the world being blown up at the same time, and I don't think that's an exaggeration.

Let's do the TBSOL-warp again

Back to editing this morning and it felt less painful than usual so I’ll take that as a good sign that I’m emotionally and mentally ready to tackle this novel again for the last (last last last last totally definitely for sure last) time.

“Lasting innovation is built on connections.”

So true … across;

industries ➕ sectors ➕ geographies ➕ disciplines

and time … continuously ➕ continually … so that we keep in mind that we are in a marathon - not a sprint.

CONTINUAL creates the nodes of our community

CONTINUOUS forms the fabric that will sustain our community

TOGETHER … not ‘and’ … ‘➕’
