Global equipment brand LiuGong says its 924FE 30-ton electric excavator isn’t an alternative to diesel. Instead, it’s better in every way – and the company’s North American customers are about to see for themselves.

Ferrari’s first electric car sold for $40 million at RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction Saturday night. The pre-sale estimate was $1.1 million.
That’s more than 36 times the estimate, and roughly 62 times what the Luce costs on Ferrari’s own price list. Every dollar goes to charity.

I wanted a way to represent workouts by the muscle groups they activate. Most applications where you log do it. I thought it must be easy with SVG images. It wasn’t as easy. First, I had to get an image that is remake-friendly. I used this drawing by OpenStax & Tomáš Kebert &...

My earliest post here was on February 3, 2002. But I registered smays.com on July 7, 1997. What –if anything– was I doing with that domain in the intervening years? Were those the Blogger years and I pointed the domain … Continue reading →
Oops, I did mean FeedLand. That is confusing that I wrote WordLand. Sorry about that.

“Sen. Bill Cassidy on Sunday blasted President Donald Trump’s executive order last week targeting the childhood vaccine schedule, calling the action ‘a stupid thing to do,'” ABC News reports. Said Cassidy: “Let’s just take it from the perspective of the parent why this is a — why this is just a stupid thing to do. […]

“President Trump’s vision for a White House ballroom stretches back more than a decade. His argument that it is ‘vital to our national security,’ which culminated Friday in an appeal to the Supreme Court, is far more recent,” the Wall Street Journal reports. “When Trump announced last year that he was demolishing part of the […]
Brent Simmons posted a note in RSS.chat about how to connect with NNW. I have a fairly detailed response, that says dynamic OPML is the way to go, in both directions. I know serving it publicly will be a problem, that's why we're going to move FeedLand into position to solve that. FreshRSS, InoReader and my own FeedLand already support it. It feels like this is getting established. I still want a podcast client to work here. I've pitched a few of them.

Computer History in ChatGPT is blowing my mind. It’s basically a note-taker for what I’m working on. Here’s a screenshot of my work so far this morning. I’m still fine-tuning what apps should be included… No chat, and will likely exclude some specific websites too.
There was an issue on one of our servers, leading to inconsistent blog publishing. It has been resolved. Sorry about that. Please email us if you have any issues.

Writing every day through these awful Trump years can be tedious and depressing, but over time, the words have accumulated a written record that maybe one day — far in the future — my grandkids or theirs might be interested in reading to understand a bit what this era of history was like.

“When they finish the process of better and better targeted advertising, that’s when the whole idea of advertising will go poof, will disappear. If it’s perfectly targeted, it isn’t advertising, it’s information. Information is welcome, advertising is offensive. Who wants to pay to create information that’s discarded? Who wants to pay to be a nuisance? Wouldn’t it be better to pay to get the information to the people who want it? Are you afraid no one wants your information? Then maybe you’d better do some research and make a product that people actually want to know about.”
