Read: Vigil by George Saunders ★★★ 📚 Ghosts gather round a dying oil billionaire, trying both to make him understand the damage and ease his passage. The deceased are almost comic characters, a couple reminding me of the two old guys in the muppets.

Graze

 Graze

For the keen red moment my knee scraped over the tarmac, I felt like a child again, grazed and quick. Then I had to pick the dirt out, and put on my own plaster, and find my own way home – and all of it without a tear in my eye,

No Graph Needed

This month's Emacs Carnival theme is The Search For Knowledge, which is kinda something near and dear to my heart. I wrote an Obsidian to Emacs post from a little over a year ago and one of the things that I mentioned is that Obsidian has a Knowledge Graph that …

Chargers 2026 Roster Prediction v2

This post continues my prediction of the 2026 Chargers roster. I had the good fortune to attend training camp this past Sunday. I was going to make an updated prediction then, but wisely decided to wait until last night's preseason game. Locks (43) I am not going to spend ti...

Shitty AI Event Flyers

This is probably not the rant you were looking for… I see a lot of people express this opinion on social media and sometimes in person: they are frustrated with AI-generated event flyers and posters and resentful that people produce them to promote local events. The thought is typically something along the lines of “No, […]

🖋️ What Are These 'Systems of Engagement' Of Which You Speak?

For sixty years we have been building systems to manage what we know. History - specific rules, behind firewalls, command and control thinking, dashboards, sales playbooks … and do not get me started on the ‘sales methodology’ industry. The world changed. Slowly. Then all at...

The Man Who Cannot Be Overruled Wants to Talk About Balance of Power

Mark Zuckerberg’s manifesto rests on a single elegant idea: safety comes from distributing power so no one actor can impose their will. It’s a fine principle. It’s also the exact opposite of how he has run everything he has ever touched. Start with the structure of Meta itse...

Grouping hosts from the Ansible nmap dynamic inventory

I use the nmap inventory plugin to build an Ansible inventory of my homelab without maintaining a host list by hand. It scans a subnet and hands you every host it finds.

The part that took me a while was getting those hosts into useful groups. Out of the box
