Archer makes wild deal with Boeing swapping eVTOL startups for equity

Archer Aviation is buying three of Boeing’s aerospace subsidiaries: autonomous air-taxi developer Wisk Aero, military drone maker Insitu, and airspace-software firm SkyGrid. The deal also hands Boeing a stake in Archer.

Investors loved it. Archer (ACHR) stock jumped more than 20% on Monday, and the acquisition instantly turns a pre-revenue eVTOL startup into a company with a profitable defense business behind it.

It could accelerate Archer’s eVTOL plans.

@dave To start with, it will only create a PDS lazily for new users who aren’t already using Bluesky with Micro.blog. I’m trying to avoid a user ending up with multiple PDSes (the Bluesky-hosted one and the Micro.blog-hosted one). The primary use is Bluesky for now, but other apps could use it.

Thanks @dave for the kind words:

It’s not my place to say what micro.blog is – but the other day I called it: “the swiss army knife of interop in the web of the 2020’s.” And in that it is unique and imho irreplaceable.

The way I think about RSS.chat is that it’s a bootstrap for getting lots of RSS feeds to play well together, for both posts and replies. Can the web be the social network? Yes. And Micro.blog should be part of anything working toward that goal.

U.S. Spent $2.2 Billion On Immigration Detention Centers

“The Trump administration’s new strategy of purchasing privately owned detention centers has already flooded one company with cash, and it’s worrying immigration advocates that it will upend local oversight efforts,” NOTUS reports. “Over the past two months, the Department of Homeland Security has purchased four lockups in California, Minnesota and Kansas totaling $2.2 billion from […]
