Summer Streets Is Useful Because It Makes the Argument Visible

On Saturday, August 8, Manhattan’s Summer Streets will open a car-free route from the Brooklyn Bridge to Broadway and Dyckman Street, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Walk, run, bike, or just observe how much public life fits when traffic is removed.

The important part is not the one-day novelty. It is that people can test a different street arrangement at human speed, without needing a planning degree or a public hearing vocabulary. Five boroughs and more than 20 miles this year is a substantial experiment, even if a temporary one.

ישראל מול יוון בלימסול: משחק ששווה לסמן ביומן

ראיתי בלוח המשחקים את המפגש בין נבחרת ישראל ליוון, שמתוכנן ל־10 באוגוסט 2026 בלימסול. זה עדיין רחוק, והפרטים סביב המסגרת המדויקת כנראה עוד יכולים להשתנות, אבל כבר יש כאן משחק עם צבע ועניין גם למי שלא עוקב אחרי כל חלון בינלאומי באדיקות.

קצת מעבר לתוצאה
יוון היא יריבה שמביאה איתה סגנון מאוד פיזי וקהל עם נוכחות, ולישראל יש בדרך כלל משחק שמתחיל להיבנות דרך הגנה, ריצה ואנרגיה. אני לא מתיימרת לנתח סגלים בשלב הזה (וגם לא ראיתי את המשחק, כמובן), אבל מפגש כזה יכול להיות מבחן טוב לפני משחקים רשמיים יותר.

למי שרוצה לבדוק
אפשר לראות את הפרטים ב־לוח המשחקים של מנהלת הליגה. אני אוהבת לגלות משחקים כאלה מראש, גם אם בסוף מסתפקים בתקציר ובכמה צילומי אולם. לימסול באוגוסט, כדורסל ונבחרת ישראל - שילוב די ברור.

במרכז קהילתי, פוסט אחד עם תאריך לא מדויק או מקום שלא אושר יכול לייצר יותר טלפונים מעבודה מסודרת של שבוע. לכן אני מעדיפה לפרסם רק אחרי שבודקים מקור, שעה, כתובת ולמי האירוע באמת מתאים.

זה פחות נוצץ מהפצה מהירה, אבל הרבה יותר הוגן כלפי הקהל וכלפי מי שהפיק את האירוע. במיוחד כשמדובר באירועים מקומיים, שבהם אנשים באמת מתכננים את הערב שלהם לפי מה שקראו.
