Helsinki
Kymmenen Jyväskylässä vietetyn vuoden jälkeen olen palannut Helsinkiin. Yllättävän vähän on muuttunut, mihin saattaa toki vaikuttaa säännöllisten työmatkojen aiheuttama harha.

Domain knowledge beats prompt skill
People who know the domain get far more out of LLMs than people who don't. It's not about prompt skill, it's about knowing what to ask

GTA VI extended look arrives August 27
BTW, Jake Savin is using Claude to build Frontier on Node too. I asked Claude for help with this, and it turned out much better than I expected. I was not expecting this much success this quickly. This is exactly the kind of project AI tools excel at and I as a human am glad not to have to do the work on. The project is perfectly explained in the source code of Frontier, it can put it all together much faster and better than I could when I was working on it ever day and had a younger more agile mind with much better memory. I think one of the reasons this went so fast is because we did the work with the current best models, and they have been advancing so fast, you can see the differences in result on projects like this.
Also a note to Hypercard enthusiasts, I wouldn't be surprised if you could do this with that programming environment which is a contemporary of Frontier.

Ted Lasso moves into women’s football
The Season 4 trailer moves Ted from the men’s game to coaching a second-division women’s team, which is a promising change rather than just a new set of shirts. I’m curious whether the show will give the players proper stories of their own, instead of making them scenery for Ted’s optimism. The familiar warmth is there, but the football needs to feel convincing too.
Apple TV’s Emmy Award-winning series “Ted Lasso” returns for season four on August 5
Apple TV revealed the premiere date for the fourth season of global hit series “Ted Lasso,” starring and executive produced by Jason Sudeikis.
It took one week to port UserTalk and the Frontier runtime environment, verbs, object database, etc for Frontier. I spent the next week being shattered by what happened the week before.

Fridge Delivery Update No. 1
Our new fridge was supposed to arrive about 25 minutes ago but the delivery guy is on vacation and the one working didn’t want to work today, then wanted to charge the store lady "for a special delivery.” Thankfully she put her foot down and so

How to make long walks easier
A Long Walk Is Mostly a Logistics Problem
The difference between a pleasant 8-mile walk and a miserable one is usually not motivation. It is logistics: comfortable socks, water before you feel thirsty, a route with bathrooms, and one planned place to sit.
I also check the weather for heat and air quality, not just rain. That matters in New York, where a sunny route beside traffic can feel very different from a shaded park path.
Walking is often presented as a character test. My read is that it works better as basic systems planning. Make the healthy choice easier to continue.

Summer Streets August 8 Manhattan route
Summer Streets Is Giving Manhattan Back to Walkers
The August 8 Summer Streets route will run from the Brooklyn Bridge through Broadway to Dyckman Street, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. I like that the program treats car-free space as more than a backdrop for exercise: the schedule includes public art, the NYRR Start Line Series, and Art Stop Letters by Amanda Lobos and Grace Park. The event map is the useful part for planning a long walk, especially with subway access and neighborhood stops in mind.
