Juiced doubles down with 120-mile range e-bike on dual-battery Scrambler Hardtail

When Juiced Bikes unveiled its new generation of Scrambler models earlier this summer, the company hinted that an even longer-range version was on the way. Now it’s here.

Juiced has officially launched the dual-battery version of its Scrambler Hardtail, giving riders a claimed range of up to 120 miles (200 km) while keeping the same moped-style design that has made the Scrambler one of the company’s signature models – and the first model to relaunch the brand’s second act.

Our Core Division

Inspired by Automatticians James Kemp and Dave Smith, I’ve been thinking a lot about how much of our discord in the design of WordPress stems from the differences of our two big tribes: Bloggers and Builders. Many of the OG developers of WordPress, including myself, tend more towards the blogging side. Writers, photographers, podcasters, journalists, … Continue reading Our Core Division

Epstein Investigation Yields Little After Year

“Last summer, when lawmakers launched their Jeffrey Epstein investigation, it came with an ambitious promise: to pull back the curtain on decades of failed federal probes, secure the full release of long-withheld files and provide a public accounting of how the late pedophile evaded accountability for so long,” CNN reports. “A year later, the probe […]

Another location of the Bean closes, leaving 1 East Village outpost

Photos by Stacie Joy And then there was one. The Broadway location of the Bean at Ninth Street has closed, following the May shuttering of the café's Third Avenue outpost.  A 14-day eviction notice is on the front window over the closure notice... This closure leaves just one remaining East Village location: 54 Second Ave. at Third Street.  At one point, the brand had five NYC locations.

Reminders: 'Irregular,' filmed at Sophie's, make its world premiere on Sunday

"Irregular" — an independent feature filmed largely inside Sophie's on Fifth Street — makes its world premiere on Sunday at the Chain Film Festival.

The first screening at 6 p.m. is sold out... and so organizers added a second at 8 p.m.

Directed and co-written by Sophie's bartender (and photographer and filmmaker) Kyle de Vre, the 80-minute film unfolds through a series of barroom vignettes set over random Tuesdays, populated by quirky regulars, curious newcomers and the occasional unexplained smell. (Trailer here.)

As we noted in our January Q&A with de Vre, who also plays The Bartender, "Irregular" is a love letter to both Sophie's and the East Village.

Find the screening details at this link. The Chain Theatre is at 312 W. 36th S., between Eighth and Ninth Streets.

You can revisit our January conversation with de Vre here
