My TV these days is deeply middle-aged. Reruns of Buffy, Stargate, Grimm, The Mentalist, Justified, Inspector Morse and the occasional Golden Girls episode. Last night, we watched the series finale of Grantchester.

I think maybe the only new show we’re currently watching is “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds,” which is essentially a reboot of a TV series that debuted midway through the Johnson Administration.

We’ve been saying this for a while now many of the people being targeted are just fishermen. Evidence now supports that the United States has killed individuals who were not involved in drug trafficking during its “counternarcotics interdiction operations” in the Caribbean and Pacific.

Universal Moral Core Principle 1

Universal Moral Core Principle 1

The first principle in my proposed Universal Moral Core (UMC) is as follows: Grow knowledge as the source of technological and moral progress. Before diving into all parts of this principle and its implications, let me relate it upfront to the Kantian separation between moral norms (values) and epistemic norms (knowledge). My principle is about a necessary condition for progress. This doesn’t mean that individuals have to acquire specific knowledge to act in a moral way. Instead it does imply...

Judge To xAI: If This Law Is So Urgent, Why Did You Wait Three Months To Sue?

Last week we wrote about how Elon Musk’s xAI had filed a lawsuit to attempt to block Minnesota’s anti-nudify app law. As we tried to explain, even if you (reasonably, understandably) dislike both Elon and “nudify” apps, there were real problems with the Minnesota law. In particular, it was not narrowly tailored to just target […]

[Sponsor] MCP vs. REST: The Right Way to Connect Agents to Your API

workos.com/blog/mcp-vs-rest?utm_source=daringfireball&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=q32026

REST serves the developers building against your API. MCP serves the agents now trying to use it. Most teams treat these as competing standards and have to pick one.

They’re not rivals, they’re layers: most MCP servers just call REST internally to do the real work. The best ones don’t convert every endpoint into a tool, they design around what the agent’s trying to accomplish.

Shipping that server also means shipping OAuth 2.1 with scoped tokens. WorkOS AuthKit already speaks that spec, so you skip building an auth provider on top.
