It would be unimaginable back then to have a single database driver that can work across multiple runtimes. 2026 is great.

The desktop computer is a miracle of human ingenuity, from the microscopic precision of Intel's Core Duo processor to the vast possibilities of offline and online computing. On the tragic decline of desktop towers, the IndieWeb and open-source software as alternatives to corporate platforms, and why we should take the time to become system admins and webmasters.

I hate computers so much. Only 10 minutes into the day, and already dealt with two bullshit problems.
- Volume control was not working on MacBook Pro laptop. Restarting the machine fixed the problem.
- Airfoil couldn't connect to a Satellite. Restarting Airfoil fixed the problem.
If that was the first 10 minutes, I imagine by the 4th hour I'll have put all of these cursed machines directly into the trash.
I want one social network with lots of branches where ideas flow in ways people want them to flow. Take the big corporations out of the middle. They have not served us well because they aren't in the business of serving us. They can provide unique user interfaces for reading or writing. They should be as diverse as apps are everywhere else but the web.

Again I find myself agreeing with UEFA and not FIFA
***The soul and governance of football are not assets to trade – especially with zero transparency as to who gains financially. None of us are the owners of football. It is not FIFA’s to sell.

A post with no title is a perfectly good RSS item. The spec says all of an item's
elements are optional, provided at least one of title or description is there —
so this one goes out as a <description> and nothing else, which is exactly how the
linkblog end of the feed world has always written.
Worth knowing if you have ever tried to link to a single one of these: we always
publish <guid isPermaLink="true">, so this note has a real URL even without a title
to hang it on.
