A little bummed that OpenAI is retiring Pulse. It felt like magic. But also it must’ve been burning through tokens way beyond the benefit, and personally I went from reading it every day to only skimming it every couple days. Maybe ChatGPT scheduled tasks can be good enough.

Michael Tsai blogging about Apple’s private email relay:
The main problem I have with Hide My Email is that some customers use it and then have no way to look up their purchase info via e-mail because they don’t know which address they used.
Yep. Apple needs a simpler way to see all your email addresses, like a table of all the service names and each email address. No one knows how to dig into iOS Settings to find it. (Although on the iOS 27 beta it’s less buried than it used to be.)
How should we remember Trump once he leaves the White House? Medieval Venice offers one answer for what to do with Trump’s image and name that he’s plastered everywhere. “There are certainly odd historical parallels between an 80-year-old leader attempting to take over a republic because he felt personally insulted and our current political situation.” By David M. Perry at the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Polestar EVs are a smoking deal at $25k off now that they’re banned in the US

On the back of the Commerce Department’s incredibly stupid move to ban Polestar from selling EVs in the US, the Polestar 4 is now nearly the cheapest EV in America after a $25k discount, and the Polestar 3 has a pretty great discount applied too.

Was the Declaration of Independence Better Before the Edits? Not a great headline on this excellent article; it’s actually a history of the writing of the Declaration and subsequent generations' interpretation of the document, up to and including Abraham Lincoln (whom a college literature professor of mine said was the only American President who was also one of the greatest writers in the English language.)

Getting Started with SimulIDE and Arduino
I was looking for an alternative to Tinkercad to simulate building, coding, and running Arduino projects. SimulIDE Circuit Simulator seemed like an ideal candidate. SimulIDE is a simple real time electronic circuit simulator, intended for hobbyist or students to learn and experiment with analog and digital electronic circuits and microcontrollers. It supports PIC,...
This spray-on powder can stop life-threatening bleeding in 1 second
A new spray-on powder developed by KAIST can stop life-threatening bleeding in about one second by instantly forming a strong gel over a wound. It works on deep and irregular injuries where conventional hemostatic products often struggle and remains effective even after years of storage in harsh conditions. Originally created for the battlefield, the technology could also transform emergency care in disasters, ambulances, and hospitals.

Something for the digital crate-diggers: The 40 Best Albums From the Last 40 Years That You Probably Didn’t Hear (But Should’ve). I’d only heard of one or two these…
I recently rewatched “Animal House,” a movie I absolutely adore, and was talking to a friend about it and how The Young People don’t get that movie. “It’s stupid and offensive!” they say, and I respond, “Yes! And it was stupid and offensive then too! And it was great!”
My friend said, “Yes, back then we liked being offended.” And I said, “Yes! That’s exactly right!”
I never really thought of it that way before. Being offended can be hilarious, if you’re of the right mindset. Many of us love offensive comedy the way many love horror movies — nobody actually loves being chased around by a guy in a leather mask in a chainsaw but make a movie out of that and it becomes a cult classic.
And speaking of offensive: I rewatched “Animal House” in 5- and 10-minute bursts on my iPhone over the course of a week or two, which will be highly offensive to cinephiles.
