Scripting News Valid

Om Malik died. A longtime friend, most generous kind person in Silicon Valley. It's that time of life. Much love to you brother.

Scripting News Valid

There’s more to freedom for users than open source. We need fluid unobstructed movement of our ideas. Interop between networks, the same basic idea that created the internet, and that has kept podcasting unowned for 22 years. I am going to ship a textcasting social network soon. It will be open source in new ways made possible by AI.

Om Malik

My heart goes out to my friend Om Malik’s family.  Om was a wonderful person, artistic soul, and original thinker. He was always curious, generous, and warm-hearted. He loved to write and to take pictures, he loved people, and he loved to share his deeply human insights on technology and the world with everyone.  I met Om […]

Heartbreaking to hear that Om Malik has passed away. I can hardly believe it. Even just this year, it felt like he was doing some of his best writing. Very thankful for the time he gave us at Micro Camp 2023… I was so excited to talk to him. Rest in peace.

Utah Is on Fire and the Fireworks Are in Aisle Nine

I have just come home to Salt Lake City and Utah is on fire, and I do not mean this poetically, although honestly, Utah does enjoy making everything biblical and dramatic and vaguely Old Testament in July, so here we are, once again, surrounded by dry grass, hot wind, evacuation alerts, smoke maps, firefighters working […]

Om Malik, 1966-2026

om.co/2026/06/24/1966-2026/

Heartbreaking news, shared by Om’s family:

Om Malik passed away on June 24, 2026, at Stanford Hospital after a long health journey with his heart. He was surrounded by family and friends.

We invite you to share your remembrances of Om in the comments below or by posting and tagging his accounts on X/Twitter, Instagram, Threads, or LinkedIn.

Om kept this battle very private, so this news comes as a terrible surprise for many, and an incomprehensible gut punch for everyone who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, my friend.

So it goes.

Trump is 80, sleepy and (maybe) on experimental drugs. Yet the media doesn't see an old man

Trump is 80, sleepy and (maybe) on experimental drugs. Yet the media doesn't see an old man

The Republicans are seen as legitimate. The Democrats are not. That explains the difference between the press corps' treatment of Joe Biden versus Donald Trump.

Would You Eat This Guy? What If He Were God, Or A Baby?
Imagine you are seated at a table. A guy sits across from you. He is vaguely humanoid, with a long torso and two arms raised in fist-like clubs. His full name is Edible Agent, but we will call him Eddie and use he/him pronouns. There's something about Eddie that makes you fe...
