In Laredo’s Last Stand Against Trump’s Border Wall, Are City Leaders Making a Deal with the Devil?

Early this year, a delegation of officials from the City of Laredo traveled to Washington, D.C., to meet with federal representatives about the Trump administration’s plans to completely wall off the Texans’ border community from the Rio Grande. Nelly Korda Is Really Good At This

Nelly Korda Is Really Good At This

LOS ANGELES — Just off the ninth green at Riviera Country Club, during the first day of this year’s U.S. Women’s Open, a familiar face popped up in the gallery: Owen Wilson.

But as fans milled about this congested space where multiple greens, tee boxes, and the path to the practice range converge, few seemed to notice. “Love your work,” one fan told the star of The Royal Tenenbaums, Zoolander, and the golf-centric series Stick; Wilson graciously thanked the man. But that was about it. Most everyone had their eyes on someone else.

They were there for Nelly Korda.

How should news organizations label their AI use for audiences? New studies suggest some answers

As we’ve reported previously, AI-generated journalism provokes distrust from readers, with audiences favoring a human touch. That might seem obvious, but a lot of questions lie buried in that broad statement. Details still coming out about the Fable shutdown… It’s more nuanced than I was expecting. From the Washington Post:

Senior officials began to consider using export controls to claw back the technology after the company did not identify the new recipients for days.

When Anthropic finally turned over the names, the administration discovered that one recipient was a South Korean telecommunications company the administration suspected of having ties to China, the officials said.

Anthropic quickly revoked the firm’s access to Mythos…

Seems in large part a breakdown in communication.
