As thrilling as the end was for this Knicks fan, as a friend (of a Spurs fan) I empathize -- because I had the feeling you have now for most of last night's game, only to erupt in one of the greatest group sports orgasms ever.

I have been praised for continuing to develop software long after most of my peers have retired. Why do I do it? I want to restore the power and glory of the web for writers. That's part of it. Another part is that software development is undergoing a huge revolution, bigger than the move to high-level languages that came about before I started writing software. AI tools are that big. Why would I leave now? It's like leaving the Garden last night because it looked hopeless for the Knicks. It ain't over till it's over.

The Hand Of God Is In New York
Some games get you thinking about a higher power. Not because it seems like some cosmic force has put a thumb on the scale in favor of one side or the other, but because the game in question produces a result so unlikely, so ornately designed, that it can only have occurred ...

Transform your AI coding agent into a deterministic Java Spring expert

Stylized teal metronome under a starry night sky, serving as a visual metaphor for predictable, deterministic AI coding and automated Java Spring Boot upgrades.

With the rise of AI coding agents, developers have begun experimenting with complex, multi-step upgrade requests. Since Spring is the

WeAreDevelopers is coming to the US to give unsung developers a bigger voice

WeAreDevelopers, the Berlin-based developer conference founded in 2015, has grown into a major global event, attracting 15,000 developers from over 70 countries each year. Is Atlantic writer Ted Chiang conscious? How do we know?

As regular readers will know, I’ve written a lot about the topic of AI and consciousness (too much for some perhaps!) because I find it fascinating, in much the same way that I find the issue of whether AI is dangerous or not fascinating – something I’ve

Abilene, Through the Looking Glass

To best trace the thread of Carlyn Ray’s ascent through the Texas glassblowing scene, you must first consider the lowly silkworm.  At the ripe young age of 10, Ray raised the caterpillars in cardboard boxes in her Dallas home, fattening them up on mulberry leaves until they spun cocoons and began to pupate. It was […]
