📽️ I’d been trying the other series and it really wasn’t working for me - so now watching the prequel because @dave said how much better it was. Jury out for this bear - but I did spend the first episode trying to spot Rhys Ifans and couldn’t. Apparently he’s changed a bit!

Angry Trump Storms Out of On-Air Interview For Unnervingly Dark Reason

Over the weekend, Donald Trump exploded during an on-air interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker. He called her “crooked” and “stupid” and abruptly ended the interview in a fury. This was ostensibly because she questioned his claims that California’s ongoing vote c...

Long day but really good day. Felt like it had a little bit of everything. Still coming down after that Spurs game, really good. Tomorrow need to unpack a little more of what I glossed over during the WWDC announcements.

[Sponsor] WorkOS Launches auth.md — an Open Protocol for Agent Registration

youtu.be/Dqp_b8GHLXU?t=1074

Sign-up forms were built for humans in browsers, so how do AI agents programmatically register with services?

Enter auth.md. By exposing a single, machine-readable Markdown file at your service root, AI agents can dynamically discover your OAuth Protected Resource Metadata, parse required scopes, and authenticate seamlessly.

With native support in WorkOS AuthKit, you can now implement this protocol out of the box, giving AI tools a standardized, secure way to log into your application.

Read the auth.md docs.

Scripting News: Monday, June 8, 2026

Monday, June 8, 2026
Said to Claude just now -- btw, it's very good we're using the outliner back and forth. we're going to build on that.#
I can't convert scripting.com to https. If I moved the site to an https server, all the archives would break, and that's where the value of the site is, in the archives, where I've kept a history of the various things I've worked on. I'm still working on new stuff, but if this is all that was left to do, I'd move to the tropics and make pottery, I would not spend my last years on such an enormous stupid bullshit project. It's just not possible. But if you want to read the new stuff on my blog in https, you can. I have a mirror on a WordPress site. We even have the blogroll ported. #

OpenAI announces draft S-1 in an oddly direct, brief blog post:

We recently submitted a confidential S-1. We expect it to leak so we’re just announcing it. We have not decided on timing yet; it may be a while because there are things we want to do that are likely easier as a private company.

Catching up from yesterday’s post from John Gruber about SwiftUI:

There’s something really wrong with SwiftUI. Amongst the apps I use, the best example is Apple Journal. Basic stuff that’s worked reliably for decades — some things that heretofore had worked forever — are dangerously broken.

Apple should’ve unified AppKit and UIKit years ago. SwiftUI could be purely a wrapper for the core framework, plus support for watchOS. Maybe too late to correct this now.

Taking a Few Days Off

I am taking a few days off. No posts here, no newsletter, no notes from the road. Things will be quiet on om.co until I am back. The last few months have been heavy on output. Essays, the newsletter with Fred, the long pieces on OpenAI and AI infrastructure, the photo work, the pen notes. …
