There are no lightsabers in The Mandalorian and Grogu, a first for Star Wars films. There are also no Wilhelm screams in the movie, which is weird because I thought I heard snippets of it everywhere (even Mando’s blaster sounded a little Wilhelm-ish).

AI's hand in creativity

Another great thing about building software with Claude Code, I can implement something the simple way knowing that later on I can change it to work in the more complex way without having to relearn all the code. Claude doesn't have any trouble with piled up complexity. This is a fundamental change in the way I develop functionality. There was a very real limit to the complexity my mind could handle, but now with a sort of infinite size disk for my brain whatever I want to do as long as it can be described in almost mathematical terms, we can do it. It's another layer in the stack. We haven't had one of those in a my lifetime, they were all invented before 1955. Seriously big deal.

The big wait betw Knicks series isn't just hard on the team, it's confusing for the fans/addicts like me. It's about the time of year that the Knicks are no longer in, and two teams I don't care about enough to watch are in the Finals. Maybe one or two games. It's like jury duty, at some point you realize you're so confused because you're in a courtroom, but where is the jury. Oh no the jury is inside me. Who's in the finals this year? We are. Geez I guess I've finally succumbed, I never think of myself as part of a team, but now I actually feel like I'm part of it. Will have to think about that.

More details from Mark Gurman about the upcoming Siri redesign:

Apple has redesigned Siri for modern iPhone hardware, making it live inside the Dynamic Island as an always-on agent that can help users get things done across the operating system and within apps. […] Apple plans to let users swipe down from the top center of the iPhone anywhere in the system to launch a new Search or Ask interface.

So close to WWDC, I assume these leaks are accurate.

What May Follow When You Are Slacked “Hey”

You’re fired.

You are getting a promotion.

You are getting a demotion.

You are now in charge.

The person you hate here the most is now in charge, and they told me to tell you that you are fired.

No paychecks this week, cool?

Could I borrow you for a sec?

Could I borrow you for a quick sec?

I’ve always loved you.

We’re doubling your salary.

We’re taking your salary and cutting it in half.

We’re taking your salary, cutting it in half, and giving that half to the person here you hate the most.

The Christmas gift this year is a donation to the charity of someone else’s choice.

Layoffs are coming, and you’re safe.

Layoffs are coming. We’re safe.

Layoffs are coming. You’re safe, I’m not.

Layoffs are coming. I’m safe, you’re not.

Layoffs are coming. We’re both fucked.

Lunch?

Guess who’s fucked?

Guess who fucked?

Coffee?

Can you open this doc?

Nevermind.

Looking forward to resuming my Texas state parks visits, including eventually the new Silver Lake State Park under development. It will be the state’s second-largest park at 54k acres:

The new park has limestone cliffs rising above rolling hills covered in live oak and juniper, with miles of river frontage along the West Nueces River, along with spring-fed Silver Lake and two water holes.

Amazing that Texas just has these huge areas that are basically unknown to everyone.
