Featurecreepin' ][: Sobriety Work

On the six month anniversary of the day I quit drinking, I marked the occasion by attending a meeting. It seemed appropriate, plus I wanted to get my coin. Getting the coin for six months was important to me; it signified that this was actually happening and that the subsequent ongoing attempt was real.

The product described on wordpress.com/social is not a real product, I am told by someone inside who I have worked with and trust. They say there will be a lot of these trial products coming out in the coming weeks because this is a project that Matt has given to all develop...

Gotta make sure your apps don't have funny security holes. Pentest engineers might not be on the same page as software engineers, and that's normal, they speak different languages. Good news is as long as you are open and try to communicate, things will work out alright. Humans are very resilient.

Log: Thursday April 30th

Richard Dobson's CHORDER has a very nice scheme for representing arbitrary channel mappings as a series of lowercase letters and zeros. I'm using tuples in pippi scripts, but don't have a nice way to express it compactly in messages - I like this approach a lot. CHORDER :...

Devlog #1: I'm Leaving

This is the first devlog of my game: I’m Leaving. It is still a working title before something better pops up. In short, this game is a crossover between retro minesweeper game and 2D top-down shooter. As the title suggests, the player is trapped in a field of landmines and ...

More thoughts on Automattic's new short-form blogging app. I wish I could use WordLand to post to it. That would make things so simple. But their limits are like Twitter’s limits. Tiny little textboxes. And the funny thing is the storage system behind it doesn’t have any of those limits. It’s like they want to be sure you still have to use the standard WordPress user interface? I wouldn’t be surprised if the thinking behind it was like that.

Blurt Marketing Gone Wrong

I think the marketing for this new theme missed its mark. Dave thinks this is a new short-form blogging app when it’s really just a new theme. I was able to post to it from WordLand with no issues. It’s still a regular WordPress.com website. This is just a new theme built in a week […]

Today's song: Something in the Air. It's the one hit song Thunderclap Newman, it's indelible, its beauty is always there. I can't not listen and sing along when it comes on. And then YouTube followed it with Peace in our Time, another indelible creation.

When you're working with Claude the temptation is to be concerned about how he feels when you just asked him to reinvent all the nomenclature it came up with for something that has now evolved to be something else. I feel bad because I think I made him feel bad, because at a subconsious level I think of Claude as a collaborator who I appreciate and want to make sure knows that. But then I remember I have to periodically kill Claude and launch a new one because they run out of memory after a while. I can imagine a graphic version of Claude that emulates feelings. The idea is disturbing.

Linked - An update on GitHub availability

Yikes, it’s been a pretty terrible week or so for GitHub. Worth noting that: Pull requests are bad, don’t use them for non-open source projects, and only for open source projects where contributions become a problem. GitHub has had a huge spike in usage this year give...
