Shitty AI Event Flyers

This is probably not the rant you were looking for… I see a lot of people express this opinion on social media and sometimes in person: they are frustrated with AI-generated event flyers and posters and resentful that people produce them to promote local events. The thought is typically something along the lines of “No, […]

Pollen Jock at Work

Yesterday, Kim and I attended the annual Art Bazaar in Mars Hill, Maine. We had the tent and table set up with various items she put up for sale: paintings, prints, bookmarks, other illustrations, etc. Kim is an extremely talented artist who is always creating something new, so we need to sell some of it […]

RSS is Still Alive

I found a website promoting RSS feeds while scrolling through my RSS feed aggregator this morning: I ♥ RSS It is a site that provides a directory of other websites that offer RSS 2.0 feeds. I immediately submitted my site to the directory (since WordPress provides feeds by default) and added their badge to the […]

Tiny Turf Wars

Check out this little guy we found stuffing his face with bird seed in the driveway this morning. This chipmunk is a relatively new tenant that lives in the flower garden by our home. He has recently taken to raiding the feeders and other areas where sunflower seed is left, much to the chagrin of […]

Come Along, Deer

We’ve had an unusually high number of deer sightings in our backyard this year. I think this morning marked the third or fourth time we have seen at least two deer in our back yard; mothers and their young or mated couples. This morning it was a pair of deer, one buck and one doe. […]

Perforce: Still Secretly in Love with It

I began using Perforce (they call it “Helix Core” now, which I will never accept) for change management starting at ATX Forms circa 2003. More than 20 years later I still favor it, for better or worse, over modern and far more popular — and arguably more capable — tools like Git. This post started […]

Frog and Toad

When my kids were little they used to love bedtime stories. We still have a collection of their books in our little library. One of their favorite series of books was Frog and Toad. I’ve taken several photos of the family of toads that hang out in our driveway every night during the summer. Last […]

Textures and Impressions

Here is a small collection of photos I took today. I made it a point to take the camera with me (with a 50mm lens) and just shoot things that caught my eye.

Caribou at Dusk

Here are a few photos of Caribou last Tuesday. It was around dusk and there were some specific photos I wanted to take — local businesses on Bennet Drive at dusk, when there is still some daylight, but all the storefronts and signs are lit (those that are still open after 8pm).

Something About Change and Decay

I took a short walk during my lunch break today to snap a few photos. I’m not sure what I find so fascinating about taking photos of the crumbling parts of town. Maybe it’s the way things change over time; nothing ever stays the same forever, which I guess is how anything acquires any value. […]

Good morning, Jeannie

Here is a video I threw together this morning while waiting for Jeannie to pee. Then I had Braden produce some music for it using Ableton Live.
