I missed it when we hit 100 members, but I noticed today that we’re at 110, which is fantastic!

We revalidate feeds every week, so I was concerned that after the initial hype, membership would drop.

The blogroll on the homepage is a great way to see who's here, but today I launched a second way to read what everyone is writing. A river!

The difference: the blogroll is a list of feeds you open one at a time. A river is the posts themselves — every member's newest items in one stream, newest first, with the text right there. Both are built from the same members' OPML list.

Head over to River in the header and scan the latest.

It runs Dave Winer's river software from FeedLand, same as the blogroll. Thanks Dave!

Wow, I don't think I've ever been featured on the homepage of Hacker News before. Let alone number one!

My post received 3,486 views, which is considerably more than I usually get. As of right now we have 63 members added to our list.

I’m happy that RSS love is generating so much discussion, including the usual haters.

But this is a positive place, and so far I’ve been discovering so much interesting writing through the blogroll on the homepage.

This is the second post dated 29 July, which is the point of it. Posts here are markdown files named by date, and the date alone is enough when there is one post: content/2026-07-29.md → /blog/2026/07/29 content/2026-07-29-two-posts-in-one-day.md → /blog/...

A post with no title is a perfectly good RSS item. The spec says all of an item's elements are optional, provided at least one of title or description is there — so this one goes out as a <description> and nothing else, which is exactly how the linkblog end of the feed world has always written.

Worth knowing if you have ever tried to link to a single one of these: we always publish <guid isPermaLink="true">, so this note has a real URL even without a title to hang it on.
