Tesla has turned on Powershare Home Backup for the Model 3 and Model Y, which means its two volume cars can now send power back into a house during an outage. Until today, the Cybertruck was the only Tesla that could do it.

There are limits. You need a Powerwall 3, and Tesla only guarantees the feature on cars ordered since October 1. Ford and GM have been selling EVs that can back up a home for years.

Tesla has registered just 993 vehicles in India since it started deliveries there in September 2025, according to registration data compiled by Indian EV publication ElecTree.

But 294 of those came in September 2026 alone. That’s a record month for Tesla in India, and it comes right after the automaker cut prices and launched the six-seat Model Y L.

The Kia EV3 starts at $29,890 in the US, and after a day of driving it around Vancouver Island, I think it’s the best-packaged affordable EV you can buy right now.

It comes with up to 321 miles of range, two battery sizes, and available all-wheel drive, which is more choice than anything else at this price. But there’s a catch: that $30,000 price tag climbs fast.

Six Flags Magic Mountain is putting its parking lots to work with a new 12.37-megawatt (MW) solar installation – California’s largest solar carport. It’s expected to generate enough electricity each year to offset the annual power use of both the amusement park and neighboring Hurricane Harbor Los Angeles.

Lucid (LCID) delivered 3,806 vehicles in the third quarter, down 7% from a year ago. It built only 2,954, a 38% cut from the previous quarter and its lowest production since early 2025.

The automaker says that’s on purpose. New CEO Silvio Napoli is selling down the unsold cars Lucid piled up in the first half of the year, and Q3 is the first quarter of 2026 in which it delivered more vehicles than it built.

Gas cars are now a minority of the world’s new car sales. Gasoline-only vehicles made up 49% of global new-vehicle sales in the first half of 2026, down from 73% in 2021, according to Mobility Global data first reported by Nikkei.

It’s the first time on record that they’ve been under half. But there’s a catch: most of the cars taking their place still have a gas tank.

The Lucid Cosmos is out testing in California traffic. A camouflaged prototype of the midsize SUV was photographed on Highway 101 in Morgan Hill, about 40 miles south of Lucid’s headquarters in Newark.

The four photos show the sub-$50,000 SUV from the rear and the side. They come two months after Lucid pushed the Cosmos launch back to the second half of 2027.

LiveWire’s smallest electric motorcycle is about to take on a new role, and it could prove to be one of the most important ones yet. The LiveWire S4 Honcho Street has now met the Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s (MSF) criteria for use in rider training programs, opening the door for new riders to learn the ropes – and potentially earn their motorcycle endorsement – without first learning how to operate a clutch and gearbox on a gas-powered motorcycle.

Elon Musk says the main thing holding back Tesla Robotaxi’s night hours is that the cars have a hard time seeing pets in the dark. His example was “grey kittens on grey tarmac.”

That’s a low-light, low-contrast detection problem, which is the textbook weakness of cameras and the exact thing lidar and radar handle. Musk has spent years calling those sensors a “crutch” and a “fool’s errand.”

The Ride1Up Roadster V3 is, for all intents and purposes, is a budget-focused daily driver urban bike. It’s not really a gravel bike. Maybe if you stand back a bit and squint, you could give it a bit more of a gravel bike interpretation. But ultimately, it’s a lightweight, affordable urban e-bike with decent multi-role tires that I mostly use for cruising around bike lanes and city streets.

So naturally, yesterday I took it on a 38 km (24 mile) ride where I spent most of the time off-road.
