I put together a playlist of some of my favourite songs. Feel free to shuffle, they're in no particular order. Let me know if you discover something you like through it 👍

I will be opting my account out of the #Bluesky bridge next week. If you follow me from Bluesky (I think there are about 3.9K of you) and want to continue seeing my posts you will need to get an account on the fediverse. Cheers.
Whenever you see what #ICE is doing in front of cameras, you must imagine what they're doing where nobody can see them--like in the concentration camps the USA is building. It's easy to read those words and much harder to fathom what they mean; that this is happening in our day and age, in what until recently was believed to be a first world country. "Abolish ICE" doesn't go nearly far enough in my view.
I just got an idea for this year's #plushtodon that I'm very proud of but won't be able to share for months to not ruin the surprise. And of course something might prevent it from happening so no guarantees...

I have to admit, the performance of a Chromium-based browser compared to Firefox is abysmal. I don't have that many tabs but it lags a lot and the browser constantly puts tabs in hibernation to save memory--something I've never needed with Firefox. So all of you Chrome users live like this? No wonder RAM is in high demand.
Well, if like me, you're looking for a European alternative to Waveform Lighting, euroLighting isn't it. All the numbers are the same on the box (2700K, 800 lumens, >= 95 CRI) but the color is noticeably more piss-yellow 😦
Ah, finally a #Plushtodon unboxing video! From @schasch and @moyie.

Not content with littering up the Earth, the billionaires are now coming for our night sky too. I wish we could shoot all of it down.

Whether it works or not, I know it would make my day if I walked past a window like that! 🙂

My wife has been using this app, looks like they joined #Mastodon recently.
I certainly hope the EU can put the same sanctions on the US for attacking Venezuela as they did on Russia for attacking Ukraine. This is indefensible.
My mom asked me to help her with a problem with her WordPress (.com) site, and oh boy. It's been a while since I've seen a UI that frustrating. The new theme editor is a sluggish nightmare. It took me by surprise too, was originally trying to troubleshoot an issue with her original theme, switched to another, suddenly the theme editor is completely different, previous theme nowhere to be found.
Happy new year! We made it!
Updated my portfolio with some previously missing photos, and removed some that didn't seem as good as I originally thought.
I'm pretty sure both Lilac by #Katatonia and Restless Boy by #PainOfSalvation are using a sample of a floppy disk drive and I find that interesting. It is a pleasant sound. Let me know if I'm mistaken...
The US version of Oscar is much less funny than the original, but as far as US adaptations go it's still quite good.

@owncast (self-hosted livestreaming platform that integrates with the fediverse) is looking really good right now. There's been a lot of progress since I first heard of it.
You know, I'm still a bit mad about the picture they put on my Wikipedia article. Back at FOSDEM 2023, some guy walks up to me, asks if he can take a picture. I've been taking selfies with folks all day so I say yes. People are happy to meet me and I don't mind. He takes the picture and leaves. Then months later I find out that blurry, low light, bad hair, bad composition picture is how I will be remembered in the world's most popular encyclopedia.

I'll elaborate. I believe we're in an AI bubble. AI companies are pushing the overton window on AI discourse. They want the most extreme anti-AI sentiment to be "Sure, it's an overhyped technology right now but there will be reasonable applications down the road". I want to see pushback on this. It doesn't matter if I can disable some AI feature in the settings. The fact that Mozilla is jumping on this bandwagon is deeply disappointing to me.
I've finally switched to the @Vivaldi browser. I've been using Firefox for as long as I've been on the internet, but the focus on AI means it's no longer the browser for me. Thankfully unlike Chrome, Vivaldi supports the uBlock Origin extension which is the most important extension for being able to browse the web nowadays.
