Doing a crossword this morning for the first time in a long while, sipping on my morning coffee I wondered if there was still time before work for writing -- it's just after midnight. Today is going to be weird!

Well The way Goethe died... "It was about eleven in the morning; "he expired," says the record, "without any apparent suffering, having, a few minutes previously, called for paper for the purpose of writing, and expressed his delight at the arrival of spring."A beautiful death; like that of a soldier found faithful at his post, and in the cold hand his arms still grasped! The Poet's last words are a greeting of the new-awakened Earth; his last movement is to work at his appointed task. Beautiful; what we might call a Classic sacred-death; if it were not rather an Elijah-translation, — in a chariot, not of fire and terror, but of hope and soft vernal sunbeams! It was at Frankfort-on-Mayn, on the 28th of August, 1749, that this man entered the world: and now, gently welcoming the birthday of his eighty-second spring, he closes his eyes, and takes farewell."

Rusty and I have been exchanging mail art for a few years. He introduced me to a fluxus game where you send one word very infrequently via the mail to someone else, and then at some point they take the words you sent and use them to make a poem and that's the game.

So we played that for a few years and in the meantime did other things too. That's been a very good thing. The most recent of those things Rusty just sent to me:

This video uses some postcards I sent Rusty as visual accompaniment to his friend's hungry stomach.

it would be nice to figure things out so the only reason I'd need to open a browser in 2027 would be as a debugger for work. otherwise, paper & text mode interfaces? modern media sucks

Probably time to stop using the term "tech" when referring to companies like Apple, Google, Meta, etc etc... "entertainment and gambling" is more accurate in practice than "technology".

I left astrid running on the resonator box (I need to think of a better name for this thing) for a couple days while I was out of town and it was still chugging along when I got back! Next time I'll try it on a raspberry pi. Using astrid for long-running installations would be nice.

Now it's winter! My morning walk might be extremely short today. Myer taught me recently "there are no bad days only bad clothes" but I'm not sure my clothes are up to a -14F wind chill. With two scarves maybe... New pippi wheels I've been testing some new builds of pippi f...

The box (mostly) survived an outing to Woodland Pattern with Will. Some bits -- the amp & solenoid power supplies, attached to the side with screw-in standoffs -- shook loose and ended up ripping out one of the amplifier board wires. Otherwise everything held together ...
